I'm good with any spot 8-4 as long as we don't have to match up vs Vancouver or Nashville in the first round. Honestly i feel confident vs any team in the west other then those two. Even Chicago and San Jose.

This was written by the CBJ beat writer. http://blog.dispatch.com/cbj/

"Looks like Kings defenseman Jack Johnson is OK. He appeared to get his right arm caught in Wayne Simmonds’ second-guy-in check of Blue Jackets winger Jared Boll in the second period. Johnson went straight to the dressing room and did not return, but told Kings writers afterward that he was fine. If the game were competitive, he probably could have returned.'

San Jose, sure ... because we all know they'll choke anyways, right

Chicago, I dunno ... would be a fun exciting series to watch to be sure, but I don't know that we come out on top of that match-up ?

That's what I figured. No sense in aggravating a minor injury into a real one when the game was not competitive. Make sure he's okay, put some ice on it or whatever, and get ready for Boston.

Btw, I believe last season the Kings were in that pack clamoring for the 8th spot at this time weren't they?

All comes down to who is the better adjuster in the post season. Which team can adapt and take advantage of the weaknesses in a 7-game series. That's truly what makes teams carry cups. You gotta get there and then you gotta be able to adjust to your opponents and get victory.

So check this out:

Went to the watch party at Pat's with a buddy. Decent little crowd.

Ice girls show up halfway through the game. We buy two of their Ice Girl Calendars for $10 a pop. With each calendar they give us two tickets to the Feb 11th game against Edmonton. Also, they put our names in some raffle. Since like only two other people bought calendars, I won a puck signed by Smyth and my buddy won two PR level tickets to the game on Thursday against the Ducks.

So for $20 total that's:

2 ice girl calendars
4 tickets to feb 11 ($29.50 face value each)
2 tickets to Feb 4 ($125 face each)
A Smyth signed puck

Not a bad deal!

Oh, and the game was great too

Damn skippy you do.

The other cool part was that I won the Smyth puck like a minute after he scored. I stood up and said "Smyth scores, I score. Boom!"

The post game article is here. It starts out slow but then starts to kick ass...click on the linky dink link for more. http://www.lakingsnews.com

If you only watched the first 7 minutes of the game and were forced to guess the final score, chances are good that you would not have guessed a Kings’ victory. You sure as hell would not have come up with a 4-1 butt kicking. The start was slow. The middle and end frames were a thing of beauty.
For what it's worth, my 2 year old daughter can now clearly express the following during Kings games..."Go Kings Go!"

I am very proud.

Playoff Update

Los Angeles Kings Playoff Chances
Did not play Wednesday, playoff odds up 0.8 to 92.6%

Detroit lost, St. Louis lost and the Ducks lost. All those helped the Kings. Flames lost in OT, which hurt the kings but only by
0.10%

If the Kings beat Columbus, their playoff odds will increase to 94.7%. If they lose - 89.8%. An OTL will barely affect the Kings at all.

Essentially, 34 points is the Kings target #. They need to earn 34 points out of the next 30 games to guarantee them 97 points and a playoff spot.

Game 53 playoff tracker:

Updated: 32 points is now the Kings target points #. They need to earn 32 points out of the next 29 games (15-12-2) to guarantee them 97 points and a playoff spot. (It may take fewer than 97 points to get in, but it's clear based on remaining games that 97 points = playoffs with a 100% certainty.

Kings Beat Blue Jackets 4-1, playoff odds up 2.4 to 95.2%
65 points - 31-19-3

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/W...fic/Kings.html

Most of the other games tonight were a negligible impact for the Kings.

If the Kings beat Boston, their playoff odds will increase to 96.8%. If they lose - 93.3%. An OTL will barely affect the Kings at all.

Can you imagine not only making the playoffs, but the very real possibility of breaking 100 points?!?!
