Blizzard 2010

Let's go ahead and guess tomorrow's attendance IF we get a snow dump in Raleigh. I'm gonna go with 340.

1337... yeah... I went there.

Seriously though, I'm still going to try to get there after work.

If they do have a blizzard, will they be giving out free tickets again?

Because if they do, I'll drive down to Raleigh and go.

You get snow in Raleigh? I thought it was sunny pretty much all-year-round!

attendance = 1500

I'll be there if I can. I'm more worried about getting out of the neighborhood than I am actually commuting there. I'm only about 15 mins from RBC and the roads I take I'm pretty sure will be plowed.

I'm going to be really mad if I have to see the Hawks on TV. Was looking forward to seeing them live. This snow storm couldn't have come at a worse time.

It is possible that they could postpone the game if it gets too bad. I know were supposed get 10-12 in Boone, but I don't know what it's supposed to be like in Raleigh. I believe some game got postponed a few years ago due to weather.

If the Hawks are in town now, which I assume they are, a game will be played.

Hawks don't play again until Wednesday, but the Canes play Monday in Edmonton. The RBC is free Sunday so it could be postponed until Sunday afternoon if need be. However, wasn't it back in 02 when we got that 20 inches and they still had the game. It was free to anyone who could get there and they shut down the upper level and had everyone sit lower level.

4500 - Lots of hockey fans are transplanted Northerners who thoroughly enjoy showing off their snow driving skills.

They are not actually any better, they just do everything faster. Including wrecking.

Chicago is the only of the current 30 teams that I have never seen play live, so I've had this one circled all season. I may just make the 5 mile walk if I have to.

yep, almost a decade minus a few days. Current projections are about 5 inches in Raleigh, more to the north and west. We may end up with 10 or so in northern OC (NC).

I hate you people who feel the need to stock up. I work at the backroom at target and I had to stock the shelves.

Sucker. I did my time with that same job at a Harris Teeter for 4 years. As soon as someone would even mention the word "snow" complete and total panic would ensue.

Oh, you mean by driving at 80+ on ice, getting into a wreck through their own idiocy, and then calling in to local radio or going on local TV to blame it all on the "dumb rednecks"?

I am not sure about everyone else, but in Pinehurst it very rarely snows...maybe once every couple of years , and even then it is a pathetic amount. I remember schools being canceled for a mix of crappy ice and "snow" that didn't even stick to anything. I blame it on the old people who freak out and buy gallons of water and generators because of an inch that melts in two days.

Yeah, we're good for one major snowstorm once every couple years.

Safe to say this one is legit. The snow has turned over to ice here in Durham and it's still coming down.

In the far eastern part of the state, I always tell people it snows one day a year on average.

Looking out my front window, by accumulation this is the most snow we've gotten in maybe six years.

A few weeks ago we had the prospects of getting snow in my county and the schools superintendent had a 2-hour delay put in the evening before at 6pm. Morning comes and all we have is a light rain, no snow, no ice. My boss gets to work and says the superintendent for the county deserves to be shot.

Part of it is unlike the north we don't have a ton of snow-clearing equipment. So unlike up there where if it snows you can count on lots of snow being cleared to make the roads passable, here it's pretty much "hey, you go on the roads you're on your own; you know they're going to be terrible ahead of time". Northerners are then like "I'm from up north, this is just a small storm, I can handle this", and then they crash. In the December 2003 icestorm, I think the local news said there were 400 accidents in the Raleigh area that day.

When will he hear anything definitive on the game tonight?

To be fair I know more then my fair share of people on both sides that have absofriginlutely no clue how to handle this stuff. The ones from the north don't realize that the snow we get is different then what they get because ours tends to melt then freeze over FAST. Others panic at the mere mention of snow (that would either be a flurry or nothing at all) and made my life a living hell for 4 years when I worked in a grocery store. Neither knows what the **** they're doing.
