I think playing with Kaberle has helped his game a lot, and has showed his some patience with the puck. He will only get better and better.
Thanks. Just was reading through the value thread for him and for life of me didn't get what was going on with him. He'd be a keeper on my team any day.

As a Philly fan I think I would do this, I love Giroux but with Richards, Carter, and JVR there is a lot of good going on with the top 6 (still have Briere Hartnell and Gagne too).

I look at this as getting a young Pronger (likely not the same offensive caibre) but still phenomenal D and great for years to come.

I don't actually see Burke doing this, If he wouldn't give him up in a deal for Kessel I can't see him doing it for Giroux.

both highly touted. Philly has lots of scoring and can afford to get rid of some. Toronto on the other hand, needs some scoring - desperately.

What you think?
it is a myth that they have lots of scoring, they really dont.

Interesting deal and probably close in value, but the Leafs are lacking in defensive prospects (they are lacking everywhere, but are lacking in defense the most). Thus, I think the Leafs would pass in the end.

But Giroux, Kessel, Kadri as a possible top line would make alot of us **** our pants.

The Flyers have a lot of SCORERS, but many of them are having a down year. The Flyers are 8th in the league in GPG right now, I think.

This is where patience could pay dividends for the Leafs.

Schenn has really come into his own. I really like Giroux at the same time. But Schenn could potentially become a heart and soul of any D squad.

He's such a hard worker. Playing extremely well as of late and developing some offensive game.

It's not a bad deal at all. I'll admit that I'm a huge mark for Giroux, but Schenn has that ability to become a top notch shut down defender, play 25 to 30 minutes a night, and possibly contribute 25 to 30 points a year.

The fact that both sides are praising both guys but wouldn't do the deal indicates that it is a pretty fair deal.

Big fan of Giroux. I'll probably do it !!

Giroux can flourish if given a bigger role in Toronto. Philly is crazy deep in their top 6 forwards.
But what about your Sig?

WTF, A fair trade proposal on HF? I hate fair trades on HF! Let's gets back to our regularly scheduled homer thread proposals where the OP's team completely rips off the other team in the deal!

Giroux + Briere for Leafs 5th round pick 2012?

Leafs save Philly salary, so they get Giroux.

Briere is going nowhere. We need his offense badly.

Both players right now are hard to evaluate. Schenn had a fantastic rookie season but struggled/struggles a lot this season.
Giroux was an impact player in the Flyers regular season games last year and was arguably their best player in the playoffs. This season he struggled point-wise but overall he played good, especially when beeing center.
As I said earlier, it's kinda hard to judge them atm, Schenn could turn out to be just another top4 shutdown dman and Giroux could top as a 60point center with good defensive instincts. Or Schenn develops into the best shutdown dman in the league while putting up 30 points per season while Giroux pots 80-90 points a year on a regular basis and is one of the most pure skilled guy in the league. It's hard to say right now, but if I'm Paul Holmgren I rather keep the guy who helps me more right now and is a safer bet for the future.

Pass from a Flyers point of view.
i agree

I'm not completely sold on Schenn. No knock on him, he's definitely talented, but I think this is a case where the Flyers should just be patient. It's not like they don't need Giroux's scoring.

No from Leafs. If Schenn gets moved it should be for a more accomplished forward, theres no sense in already telling the fans we've wasted a top five pick.

Count me in as one of those Philly fans that have a man-crush on Giroux. I'm convinced he'll become a PPG player.

For that reason only, I don't do the deal.

It's a very fair proposal, however.

Agreed. I'd love to have Schenn but seeing Giroux play anywhere else would kill me.

it may be fair value but its not even close need wise. we have two top pairing d and we have two guys with top pairing potential. what we dont have is a replacement for briere if we trade giroux.
