GM Murray: I am not trading Bobby Ryan

Quote:
"Unequivocally, I'm not trading him," Murray told ESPN.com on Friday. "My plan is to get him signed."

The Ducks, via senior vice president of hockey operations David McNab, talked contract with Ryan's veteran agent, Don Meehan of Newport Sports, in November. After about a week of conversations, both sides amicably agreed they would wait until after the season to pick it up again so it wouldn't be a distraction for the 22-year-old Ryan.

"We both agreed to wait, to watch him play and at the appropriate time we'll sit down and have further discussions," Meehan told ESPN.com Friday.

I didn't even realize his name was being tossed around in rumors.

It would make no sense to trade him. He's 22 years old and is on pace for 35 goals/65 points.

Well that's a no brainer. I'm surprised he even had to come out and say that.

In other news, Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin also aren't on the trading block.

Yeah, sad that this even needs to be mentioned. No chance that kid leaves unless his head is in the clouds about the $.

It was obviously going to happen. But even thoughts of the negotiations being put off or not going well was making me go crazy a bit.

Money from Jiggy = Signing Ryan. Make it happen Murray!

When is the last time Crosby and Ovechkin were tossed around in the rumor mill?

I hadn't heard they agreed to wait until the season was over. That's a bit relieving, I was starting to wonder why Murray was dragging his feet with getting Bobby a new contract.

First Niedermayer, now Ryan. It might be quicker if Murray just announced to the press whom he was willing to trade, rather than individually singling out the players he won't trade.

Next Week: TSN breaks the story "GM Murray: I'm not trading Getzlaf, Perry, or Sheldon Brookbank!"

GM Murray: I am not trading Bobby Ryan.

Yeah, that's a bad move. He should just get whatever draft pix and prospects that are ranked a 7.0 or higher on HF for him. Now that would be smarter.

Many of you seem to claim this is common knowledge. Yet if you look at most proposals involving the Ducks, they always end up with Bobby Ryan being involved.

I'm glad someone posted this, even if it is EricNut.

Even the OC Register speculated the Ducks might trade Ryan.

because when it was first reported that Ryan turned down an offer by the Ducks, it was speculated that he didn't want to sign with them... and when a player doesn't want to sign, you deal him.

Smoke and mirrors! Bobby Ryan will be traded to Toronto for Hagman and a 3rd.

Seriously, I doubt this will deter the well thought out HF proposals for Ryan we see on a daily basis.

Last I checked most of the retarded proposals in here never come true.

The only reason people include Ryan in their hair-brain proposals is cause they want him real bad. Most proposals in here include players like Malkin, Ovechkin etc. players that will not get traded. Thats just how HF boards rolls pick a player you want then create an asinine proposal and post it.

Bobby Ryan was tossed around as possible trade bait by ESPN, OC Register, etc.
