Lecavalier to St. Louis

What would it take?

Please let's only discuss exactly what this thread is about. I don't want people to come on and here and say "Vinny isn't going anywhere"

This is just for fun..

Perron and a 1st? Too much, too little?

Too little. Vinny would command a 2010 1st, Perron and probably Pietrangelo. Possibly more. He's signed until the end of his career and has a NTC (or is it NMC?) so I can't see him wanting to be traded to St. Louis anyways.

The salary cap kindly asks you to "pay attention". The Blues would have to move more salary than that.

I think that's way too much, especially given his contract.

I don't see why he wouldn't waive it to go to an up an coming team either. JD can be quite convincing.

If you wanted to throw in another prospect for Pietrangelo, I could see that possibility.

The Blues would have plenty of cap space with Tkachuk and Kariya coming off the books. Even after signing Johnson. We already have $6 million available as it is now.

I'm not exactly sure about the Blues' bonus situations with their players(which may make a difference). However if you made that trade today it would exceed the upper cap limit.

Also the Blues in the past have shown reluctance towards large contracts.

What would his cap hit be for five weeks? It wouldn't exceed $6.5 million?

Does Andy Murray count against the cap?

Why on earth would we want to take on that contract?

I don't think Vinny would want to go to St. Louis, so there really isn't a deal to be made

I read the thread title and thought "why are they making a thread about an assist?"

Why not? He'll be 35 at the end of that contract. We just got done paying Kariya a million and a half less to score 50 points.

I don't have a problem with the contract.

How about Boyes, 1st and Pietrangelo

Berglund, 1st, Cole

Thats what I would offer. I think Berglund could be great, but the Blues are so deep down the middle, and acquiring another enter, there would have to be a center moved in the deal. Oshie isnt really an option to be moved.

2010-11
Perron-Vinny-Boyes
Backes-Oshie-McDonald
Eller-McClement-Steen
Crombeen-Tkachuk/Statsny/Sonne-Winchester/King/Janssen

Doesnt look bad from the Blues perspective. The Lightning get 2 cheap, NHL ready players, and a potential high 1st round pick, while getting out from under a big contract.

Cap space is proportional. If we have 10 million in cap space at the beginning of the season and don't spend any of it at 41 games into the season we will only have 5 million in cap space left.

The cap is not that far off. Perron, Steen/colaiocavo and a 1st and the cap works.

That is basically what I traded for him in the GM games on the Mock draft section. Except Palushaj was added on my end.

no you are wrong get your facts straight first before posting if you have 10 million in cap space before the seasons starts and you dont make any moves you will still have 10 million left at the trade deadline so if you have 10 million in cao space and you make a trade 41 games into the season or the mid-way point you can trade for any player that makes less then 20 million dollars because you only need to pay hmi 10 million dollars
