You've actually got this very, very confused yourself. Weber is a more skilled player than Gill at this point AND actually has potential (pretty sure those days are passed with Gill, lol). What sets Gill apart is his EXPERIENCE and "leadership". That's what makes him more valuable than Weber in the eyes of a coach; experience --> reliability in a variety of situations (supposedly). I'm sure they like Gill's size, too, but when's the last time we saw that actually translate into a 50/50 puck battle won in the corner, forward cleaned out of the crease, or player stopped from getting to the net because of a 6'7" mountain in the way?

Except for his one even-strength shift on defense in which he totally blew his coverage and gave the Sens a PP.

Silly stuff. Don't blame the goaltending or the defense, blame the team for scoring ZERO 5 on 5 goals.

Pretty sure we're tied in 8th place right now, which is the playoffs. Sure we have more games, sure we might not make it - but I have hope and if you don't.. just leave the boards until next year.

Exciting game, at least to me.

I thought Gill was by far the worst player on the ice for both teams. Bergeron is going to take heat, but I thought he played hard all night.

Pierre McGuire is a hockey commentator for god sakes. Might as well put Pierre Houde up there.

Patrick Roy would definitely be my pick. The guy hates to lose.

Yep. it was interference, but who cares, that won't help this team score even strenght...

We plainly suck... and Martin's joke of a system is painfull to watch.

I'm just tired to be asking for the coach's head, it doesn't solve anything, we got to aim for the big boy making the dumb decisions... then we'll talk about getting rid of Martin and bringing in the best coach not in the NHL.

Gainey mentions that everybody from the old regime is gone and that he's the only one left, making him accountable for the results or lack thereof.

You'll have to be a little more detailed in your interpretation of what happened with Nylander before I can see what parallel's you're trying to connect here. The Habs certainly can't wait for Gomez to retire after age 35 or afford to buy out the rest of that contract, if that's where you're going with that one.

TSN on there site about the Habs and Sens game, near the bottom:

Notes: The Senators were without C Jesse Winchester (right knee, mid-February), G Pascal Leclaire (concussion, indefinite). . . D Alexandre Picard and LW Shean Donovan were a healthy scratch for the Senators. . . The Canadiens were without C Olivier Fortier (shoulder surgery, LW Andrei Kostitsyn (knee, early March), D Paul Mara (upper body, day-to-day), D Jaroslav Spacek (flu, day-to-day). . . RW Matt D'Agostini was a healthy scratch for Montreal.

Why is Olivier Fortier in the game notes? He has never played in the NHL...has he even ever played in Hamilton???

D'Ago, isn't he on a conditioning assignment???

Who writes this stuff???

Disaster as in what? Bottom 5 for 3 years until he's replaced? Well fits the bill of what some people would like....

Didn't watch the game... Was it really a disaster? I would think that since we got ourselves into OT we must've played somewhat well, no?

Fair enough. See I like when posters actually back the stuff up that they say! Good job WS...

I will say this though, even if Gainey leaves, he'll probably move up in the organization, and be replaced by Martin, and then Boucher replacing Martin.

The 5 on game, while it had some energy in the 1st, was abysmal and laughable most of the game. We can't compete even strength. Luckily we're great on the PP. So almost all the game on ES was a disaster.
