He'll be back by playoff time. That's pretty much the only good way to look at it though..

Bad news, but what an effort to slid and block a shot from the point. Foligno made a hell of a hockey play. Just after it happened you can see Kovalez skate by and give a tap with his stick. Saying "Nice job kid"

Is it me or does Karlsson's skating remind me of Bobby Orr ....... IMO. So smooth and fluent and quick, plus he has the hands to go with it. His is 19 years old playing in the late stages of games and on the penalty kill. This kid is going to be something else. Can you same the same about Victor hedman who was drafted higher.

Karlsson already showed he's better than Hedman in the WJC. Most experts predicted that he is too small to play in the NHL and believe that Hedman is a better fit as he is bigger. Again, Karlsson is proving them wrong. With the way he is playing right now, he will be a force in the playoffs.

Looking on the bright side, Foligno got off the ice himself, so it could be a fracture. We won't be playing hockey for the Olympic break and it'll buy us some healing time. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nick back in ahead of schedule.

I would have rather had a loss and no injuries than this.

How's our lineup looking without him?

Michalek - Spezza - Alfredsson
Shannon - Fisher - Kovalev
Z. Smith - Regin - Cheechoo
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil

The only bright side is we wont have to listen to a none sens broadcaster call him Mike Foligno for a while.

When he broke into the league, whatever, but its been 3 ****ing years now, get his name right for christs sake. Morrison did it again on Idesk. Pretty sure Nick is the only son of an NHLer they constantly **** up too.

Any chance to place him on the IR to reduce Foligno's cap hit or no? Not sure about that side of the cap.
LTIR doesn't reduce the cap hit, just provides an opportunity to apply for an exception to go over the cap by the value of the player's cap hit

yea im surprised he was able to put pressure on his leg... I broke my ankle playing hockey and I remember not being able to put any pressure on it. Not sure if the two fractures are similar or not, but none the less hopefully hes back asap.

I'm leaning twords

Regin - Fisher - Kovalev

but Shannon - Fisher - Kovalev is ok to

The fourth line would be either

Shannon - Winchester - Cheechoo or

Winchester - Regin - Cheechoo

I'm not sure which way Clouston is going to go, but I'm sure he will figure things out. Hes been doing a good job of that of late.

Maybe Fisher will play wing on a line with Regin and Kovalev. Didn't they play together in pre-season? I could be remembering wrong.

Who moves up now to play on a line with Kovalev and Fisher? Shannon is my guess.

Choked that Foligno is out for 6 weeks. Hopefully Alfie can sprinkle some of his swedish fairy dust his leg so he can recover by Wednesday.

He's been a monster.

Hopefully this means Z.Smith gets another shot. He was impressive in his games with Ottawa.

Karlsson's a treat to watch!

Z Smith won't be in the line up, not with Chum and Winnie (if he's ready) already in the press box.

I doubt Z.Smith will get called up as Winchester is ready to go... I also hope Regin gets to play with Fisher and Kovy

Michalek - Spezza - Alfredsson
Regin - Fisher - Kovalev
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil
Donovan - Winchester - Shannon
Cheechoo

Now please sit Cheechoo a bit.

Chum's already been a healthy scratch in favor of Smith already, why wouldn't it happen again? St. Pierre in a top 6 role might be an option too.

Smith was already with the club at the time due to the rash of injuries, I doubt they would call him up, and add a little bit of salary under the cap a good chunk of the rest of the year, when there's capable players already waiting to play.

If they didnt want Chum to play he'd be waived by now.

There's also the slight chance Picard could slide into a foward spot, should things not work out with Chum or Winnie...Not saying I want to happen, but with his ability to hit, and decent offensive sense, I dont think Picard would make a horrible d-man playing forward.

**** this sucks nuts. Just when you think you're icing a full lineup, a key component who is playing awesome gets knocked out. what happened to him anyway?

Two words:

Petr. Sykora.

He's a cheap UFA replacement until Foligno comes back. Acquiring a rental right now will be way too expensive.
