Rattie has been great as long as he's played hockey, I don't get how some of these kids don't get rated higher sometimes.
Don't forget, on HF (and in the minds of some scouts) being 5'11 is "undersized" but 6'1 isn't. I mean, we are talking about basketball, after all.

I am not saying this kid will go #1 overall in 2011, but I have come away completely impressed with him over the past month.

Ty plays on a pretty deep Portland Winterhawks team, and since the beginning of the year, he really has come on and played a very solid two way game.

He has good size at 6'0 170, but still has plenty of time to grow. He may not be putting up the numbers that McColgan and Nugent-Hopkins are, but I just love his overall game.

If this kid starts getting top line minutes, look out!

Keep an eye out on Rattie the remainder of the year and next year, because I have a feeling this kid is going to turn into something pretty special.

Great class for the WHL as Rattie, St. Croix, McColgan, Jacobs, Musil, Nugent-Hopkins, etc all look to be very high picks in under two years
.

Keep it up kid!

Ty Rattie

What happened with this player?

First 2 months:

15GP 11G 17A for 28 pts, +15

Remainder of season:

52GP 17G 34A for 51 pts, +5

I'm guessing a chunk of the offense falling off would have to do with the return Johansen and Niederreiter. Is that indeed the case, or was that not a factor?

Was he injured, or playing through an injury, after that first stretch?

All good questions, im curious myself. He was highly touted prospect. should still go 1st round to someone with 2 picks.

He still is a highly touted prospect. He wasn't considered top 10 material by most, but he's for the most part been considered a 1st rounder, and he still should go in the first round.

Anytime between 15-30.

As to the OP, I don't really know any reason's why he'd drop off.

Those points scored in the first 15 games was when he was Portlands primary offensive weapon prior to El Niño & Ryan Jo being sent back to Portland. It's self explanatory what happened to his numbers after they returned

Yep, primarily Nino's return. Its almost a direct relationship to the GP #.

Still, 2 goals in 37 games, how much was his icetime cut?

He has it written as two different chunks of games. It isn't cumulative. Add them together.

P.S. @OP - You're missing 4 goals somewhere. He ended up with 28.

Yes and No.... he still was playing a lot on the 2nd with 2 very talented linemates in Cunningham and Bartschi.

As I said early in the season, Ty Rattie is a very one-dimensional player... if not a one-trick pony. Not very physical, known to go through slumps, and lumpy on the backchecking - which is why he was never considered a Top 10 prospect, not even at the start of this season.

Most people have no idea about the Winterhawks, and your answer reeks of someone who doesn't have the full answer himself. 2 goals in about 40 games for a projected top 20 pick? It has to go beyond diminished ice-time.

There was also an injury mixed in there, unclear as to how much it affected his game but isnt out of the ordinary to diminish stats.

I'm hoping the Islanders can snag him somehow in the middle-late 1st round.

I'm an Isles fan too and sure hope they do NOT snag him... unless you want Jeff Tambellini 2.0 - maybe with some Rob Schremp mixed in there. No thanks...

If he's projected to be either of those he's not going in the 1st round.

I think he falls to the late 1st round. I think he's this year's Tyler Toffoli. As soon as he gets more ice time he will destroy. He's a pure goal scorer, but when you're competing for ice time with Johansen, Nino, Cunningham and Ross, you just wont have as much time to score.
