Trade Deadline Deals

What would you guys like to see the Bolts do with Tanguay by the deadline?

Tanguay

A couple of moves I've been thinking over in my head would be sending Tanguay to Phoenix. They clearly had interest in him over the summer, and maybe they can pull a Vrbata and make him a reclamation project. In return, and I'm sure we'd have to add a bit, but a Peter Mueller coming in return would be good. He looks like he needs a change of scenery. 8th overall pick who is a big body and can play physical, would love to see him under Tocchet.

Or should we be just happy with a low pick/prospect?

Tanguay has to go for sure in any case.

I also wouldn't mind seeing a Ponikarovsky coming here. I think playing in Toronto really isn't a good thing for him, but he has shown he has skill. He would be great for secondary scoring here, since we have about none. Is a second round pick too much?

No matter if we're at the bottom of the east, close to the 8th spot or even above: We should get rid of Tanguay better sooner than later...

Yea, FA at the end of the year that more than likely wont be back. If the Lightning are still in the playoff hunt by the trade deadline I hope they trade him to a west coast team.

Providing we are out of the playoffs by the deadline I would trade Halpern, Tanguay, Foster and Niittymaki for picks. Getting a second back would be priority.

I think Foster gets re-signed.

I agree. BTW, after the massive trade of Today, Anaheim cleared up a little money and still needs a d-man. Perhaps we could package Ranger with Tanguay and maybe get a high draft pick and prospect?

Will Ranger ever come back?

Trading Ranger during his leave of absence would bring new meaning to the word "low."

Anaheim sent out like 5.5m and brought in like 8.5m. They didn't free up anything.

Granted the toskala contract expires after this season.

Why? Personally I think him completely abandoning his team regardless of reason for this long is ridiculous. If you don't go to work for 6 months you think your job is still gonna be there for you when you feel like coming back?

It's moot though as no one is going to trade for captain disappearance.

Regardless of reason? We have no idea what is going on, so that's very unfair. It wasn't like he just left one day. He asked for a personal leave and it was a good enough reason for the team to let him take his time.

Trading Ranger would be a bad idea but not because it's "low". It would be a bad idea because his value is zero.

If you were a GM would you be interested in trading for a player who abandoned his team for several months and will need some time to get back into playing shape?

If we had to trade him I wouldn't expect anything more than a late pick.

Let's not make this about Ranger. Do you see anyone else than Tanguay, Halpern, Foster (?) and Nitty (?) possibly getting traded?

No it really wouldn't.

And if someones trade value is zero, and a GM wants him, isnt it a good idea to make the deal?

Just like Tanguay's. Tanguay's irrelevant unless someone thinks he's going to get his game back in the last month. Right now with his production, he's not worth a damn. I can see them stuck with him until the end of the season and him trying to find a new contract. He sure as hell didn't help himself this season. His value is lower than when he was injured because he hasn't done **** while healthy.

Maybe we can sell his "playoff experience".

Tanguay's a guy that seems to be the two extremes. With the wrong system he is the symbolism of failure. With the right system hes a stud. Providing that a team has the system for him, we can very easily command something valuable back. Like a 1st for example.....

Right now, I expect a very, very quiet deadline for the Bolts.

That said, I cannot emphasize "right now" enough.

Any chance we trade Halpern to Calgary for one of their abundance of wingers?

As a Flames fan I would almost be happy to see Tanguay back in The C especially if it keeps Kotalik away from our first line..
Who would you want ffor Halpern?
I know nothing about him. Help?

Those are 4 leading candidates, but I hope we keep Foster, at least for now. Nitty won't be moving either unless we acquire someone else in goal so...
