Salary Dump ...aka our 1st line Center

Perhaps Briere? ...who else may fit that bill?

Do the Leafs even have enough cap space left to be taking on salary dumps?

we still have Finger to waive/dump, Poni and XLB to trade ...not as bad as it may seem ...and our biggest chip in Kaberle (maybe Beauchemin now too)

Don't think Francois will ever be traded. And it will be tough getting rid of that Finger contract, I think Burke will bury him in the minors.

As for 1st line centre, well, Burke will have to trade Tomas Kaberle in order to acquire one, or draft/develop one.

briere? sweet jaysus, what happened to rebuilding?

if phaneuf doesn't improve, we could have got hosed in that deal rather than the flames....

do we really want two major underacheivers taking up like $15+mil of our cap? i don't.

kaberle could bring us a very good top forward if traded...and than there's free agency. we don't need to make any dumb moves like trading something for briere.

Oilers fan here, curious what Leaf fans think of a deal like this- Komisarek to EDM, for Horcoff... I figured they are both overpaid, and they could probably both help out the respective teams. I could see Horcoff putting up 60 points a year with a change of scenery and a decent winger, and he is a 5.5 cap hit. Thoughts?

Definately not Horcoff. He is hardly producing like a 2nd line centre at the moment.

There was that rumour about Riberio, or at least some connection with Dallas. I wonder if that had any legs.

Burke is going to get someone to play center for us ...just a matter of what direction he goes ...Kaberle trade for young talent, or take a Dump + picks

...I'm just curious of what other players could fall into that bracket, of being both a #1 center, and a salary dump.

Richards was in TB ...Maybe Vinnie is now, but, I wouldnt trade him

Is anyone one on the Oilers producing at all right now (Besides Sam Gagner)? They're the worst team in the NHL, and I don't think Horcoff continues this slump for the rest of his career. The whole team has zero confidence right now, and are embarrassed, I think if he had a change of scenery he could be a good fit somewhere else.

I like to think Kadri will be that number one centre.

I just don't think that the Leafs have what it takes to acquire someone like Lecavalier. I think in order to make this trade with TB, you are going to need a decent offensive player in return, and probably at least a 1st rounder on top of that. Something has to come back to them that they can sell to whatever fans they have left.

Who will be our #1 center?

who will it be next year? I dont think kadri is ready.

I would be way to pumped if stajan went UFA and we signed him. I acctually loved that guy

Kadri needs another year in the minors. Without question. He's too thin now. Is he eligible for the AHL next year?

Bozak has shown he can play... but i would think its someone else. Not to many 1st line players in UFA this year... Marleu and Kovalchuck

Maybe not 1st line center but here goes it:

Arnott - can be had cheap
O'Sullivan/Cogliano - same
Umberger
Jeff Carter - Philly is tight against the cap
Mueller
J. Staal - will Pens ever consider it
Logan Couture + for Kaberle
Vinny?
Kesler - Burke would love to get him

Then the free agents:
Marleau
Jokinen
and to a lesser extent on a short deal, Matt Cullen

Nice list. I would love Marleau but thats not happening. I want to keep Kaberle. Mueller i think would be a good time to trade for him. I also think it would be a good time to trade for Cogliano. J Staal would be awesome but i dont see it happening
