Kotalik Coming To Calgary

It's seems there was a deal in place but Kotalik has to talk to his family first

Why? This one doesn't make much sense to me, if it's true.

Strange. I'm guessing Moss might be on his way out.

I'm no proven source but hearing Kotalik+ for Jokinen+ (with the plusses being bit parts).

Frees up more cap space for the "big" move...

I hope not. He's not exactly what I would call a 'top-flight offensive player.'

Dreger has it now. He's more reputable than me.

Flames expected to deal Jokinen to the Rangers for Kotalik and Higgins or Gilroy. www.tsn.ca will have the details as they break.

I'm hoping for Gilroy. The team could use a young, puck-moving defenceman. Plus, the team has a surplus of forwards, even moreso after today's deal with the Leafs.

WTF? Kotalik now? Is Sutter after moving pieces for Kovalchuk?

If Jokinen has indeed been traded, I guess Backlund will stay up.

This is the first lame news of the day for me..........

I was hoping to see Hagman and Olli work a little Finnish magic together

Definitely looks that way. I could see a package of Boyd, Moss, Pardy or Gilroy (assuming he's the other player coming to Calgary), and a prospect (e.g., Nemisz, Pelech, Wahl) for Kovalchuk.

WTF is going on Sutter? Stajan, Langkow, Conroy, Boyd and Mayers down the middle isn't going to cut the mustard.

I still don't understand why Calgary needs two overrated third line grinders? They already have a good support players in Glencross, Dawes, Moss, Boyd... strange move.

Why is Sutter going after all these average forwards?

Stajan - average
Kotalik - average
Hagman - average
Higgins - average

None of them bring any grit, although Hagman will get his nose dirty.

I just don't get trading a huge asset like Phaneuf and not getting a legit first line player in return. You can say what you want about these guys but none are first liners. They may play on the first line but they should be second or third.

Man, I feel sorry for you guys today, watching Sutter completely blow up your team. He's really making a fool of himself....

I had a hard time understanding the Phaneuf trade, but this one is a head scratcher. You're getting two useless forwards in Kotalik and Higgins, two guys that could barely make the lineup i NY.

Jokinen has been a disappointment this season yes, but he's still much much better than those two combined.

Man oh man, I'd be extremely pissed if this was happening to my favourite team.

subtract Prust, and exchange Higgins for Gilroy and the trade is pretty good. But with the way it is now its just a good trade for the Rangers big time to get rid of those two contracts.

EDIT: I hope the Flames find a way to snag Colby Armstrong + Kovalchuk before the deadline in some playoff run attempt.

Well, people called for Sutter to shake this team in the midst of that 9 game losing streak, and we got it. Wow, a completely different team tomorrow night against the Flyers. Interested to see how these new guys will fit in.
Are we even going to have a team tommorow? There's still time..

This is not good, unless we are making space for a Kovalchuck type.
