It was good to see this team play a tight defense game for a full 60+.

I don't see the problem with giving Rinne the first star. He lost in a 10 round skills competition after making some great saves to keep it a tied game.

I would say it's a toss up between him and Bryz for the first star, with the deciding factor being the fact that Rinne is on the home team.

Rinne had more shots on goal.

Gagne you need to relax a bit bub. Rinne was just as if not sharper than bryz tonight. He had more quality shots against. After the 2nd period Bryz had only faced 11 shots total.

Wow, this is the most featureless box score I have ever seen. It's not reflection on the game, which was actually very entertaining to watch.

And Lang going ninth in the shootout?!? WTF?

It's game like this that make me feel that people who say "I hate Phoenix, they're just a boring trap team", are full of crap.

A tip of the hat to Peter Mueller who may have saved the game by making and outstanding defense play on the Nashville 2 on 1 break. This is a new brand of Mueller and I for one am liking it.

It was, and it should of been a penalty shot.

No, Mueller didn't have possession of the puck.

I can't understand sending Lang out so late either. They were speculating that he has found his way into Tippett's dog house.

You'd never know how well Doan did in the shootout at the last skills competition by watching him in shootouts this season.

I hope not, just because that would mean Tippett is petty enough to potentially lose the extra point by not sending out one of (if not our best) shootout man.

Though ultimately it doesn't matter, since Lang missed and we still won.

On another board the thinking was maybe he went late because of the bad ice. Since Lang normally does a lot of fancy stick and drag work on penalty shots

I don't want to say I disagree with you, because I was expecting Lang to come out as #4 and was disappointed when he didn't. If you have him on the roster you put him out there where he excels.

I would not mind at all if Lang found himself in the dog house though. Lang has lead for feet, which means he needs to rely on excellent positioning to be effective in Tippett's system. If you are going to give Mueller a hard time at all -- which would be misplaced over the last two games -- you have to be disappointed with Lang. Lang is looking pretty bad the last two games he played in and he got a game off.

Maybe he was sulking after getting passed over so much, but his shootout attempt even looked lazy. You can't follow up a brilliantly subtle double move to the back hand to score with a half ass shoulder fake and a weak shot.

Maybe Tippett was right and we were both wrong after all.

I'm not buying that. I would maybe buy that with Vrbata because he moves the puck around a lot more on his fakes than Lang. Vrbata went early. Lang is all about subtle moves that just look so genuine that the goalie bites and Lang makes it look easy. Watch Lang's shootout successes. He is not about exaggerated movement; quite the opposite.
