It's really sad that only about 3-4 teams have a chance each year.

The bottom teams are filled with young, immature players who leave early from college and never develop, or they take some gamble on some hyped up foreign players who flop

I'll take you up on that bet.

I second this. Unfortunately. The longer Brooklyn takes, the more likely the Nets staying in Newark is...

Didn't they sell the 800 million in bonds in just about no time flat?

That thing is getting built.

I hate basketball.

I don't want to see s***ty Nets banners hanging in the rafters.

The Nets aren't even good enough to be made fun of during late night monologues (the Knicks take that honor).

I hate basketball.

well, none of you operate the arena, so it doesn't matter a whole lot.

Meh...

They suck, but you're not giving them enough credit...

Read what those banners say... They're not like the Clippers or Kings... A franchise that sucks/sucked past, present, and future.

Don't get me wrong, I hate basketball, and I loathe the idea of them moving into our arena, but don't sell them short.

To be fair that picture is of warm-ups. But their crowds resemble what we have at the Rock for Lowell games, seriously.

Most NHL teams paper, but the Nets own the ****ing trees that make the paper.

It was about 500 million, and color me shocked at that by the way. I thought that had a good chance to kill the deal on its' own. But cant they go to a higher court in the eminent domain case?

this helps get them there, and apparently, there's not the same "catches" that existed under Corzine... instead of having to give up concerts and family shows, the various properties will enter into a sharing agreement.
The Prudential Center also loses money if the Nets lose. That's 41 of those 200 dates that are taken up that the Prudential Center could have scheduled something decent in. That's lots of potential dollars lost throughout 2 years.

And yes, Sharing Agreements suck.

If Jeff was able to get 41 other events then this wouldn't of happened. It's hard when the meadowlands has the live nation deal. AEG blowssss

It's not as much filling all 41 as it is accommodations in the schedule. Once the NBA sets those 41 days, they're set in stone and can't be moved. Say Metallica wanted to come in and do a concert, and they're in the NYC area when the Prudential Center has Devils-Nets-Devils on 3 nights, they're not going to be able to get into the schedule and they'll go somewhere else. If the Nets weren't there, they'd obviously get in.

Well it's hard not to take on 41 guaranteed dates. A smart business man won't keep a building empty because some big band might go on tour.

It's better to have the guaranteed 41 dates than the other potential dates.

Step One = Destroy the NJSEA (from today's Star-Ledger)

Quote:
A report by Christie's transition suggests that the NJEA should be seriously looked into and possible disbanded.
"With a $38 million dollar budget shortfall that will have to be made up by the state's taxpayers in 2010, it is important that the entire mission, structure and even very existence of the NJSEA be questioned," the report said.

The NJSEA bleeds $38 Million dollars in ONE year? That's way more than I thought, and I knew it was a cesspool of political corruption.
