I think the only trade Howson will accept that includes Redden in it is the Rangers giving the Jackets a 1st round draft pick with Redden just to take him off our hands.

Let's hope Rozsival + Voros/Brashear for Torres? I might be living in a fantasy here.

Let's trade Brashear, Redden, and Rozy and a 1st round pick for Crosby, Malkin, and Ovechkin

He may or may not, but Prospal-Jokinen-Gaborik could be a legit NHL first line, something the Rangers havent had in a while.

Look, it's not vaulting us to a Cup this year, but it's 3 steps in the right direction. .....

1. A number 1 center for us anyway
2. A legit tough guy who won't hurt us every time he takes a shif
3. CAP SPACE!

Y'know, given how bad the 2011 draft is supposed to be, I wouldn't be averse to giving Columbus the Rangers #1 in 2011 if they'll take Redden for Torres.

1. Thats great ! Just like Kotalik was a PP 'specialist'
2. Thats great ! How many minutes does he play?
3. Thats great ! Who's spending that cap space?

This is/was a no-brainer. We may not see much improvement this year, we are still a very flawed team. But going forward into next year this is potentially a big win.
As long as Sather doesn't pull a "Sather" and **** things up in FA.

"Better" or "Better off?"

Better, maybe, but not by much.

Beter off, definitely.

I can't vote in the poll, as the answers are too black & white. There is no "no effect" option.

1. Jokinen is better at wing than center.
2. The improvement in this trade was getting rid of Kotalik's horrid contract.
3. Jokinen's contributions to this team will not be substantial in any way. The win here is he's an UFA this summer.

... only for Sather to have new boatloads of cash to throw at worthless mercenary UFAs. The cycle never ends. We can only hope he at least gets Kovalchuk with it.

That's how I also see it. The trouble is, what effect will it have, when Sather has alot of free cap room and the date hits july?

Please Sather. Please retire. He's great at fooling other GMs in trades, I have to give him that (he should be a salesman), but the problem is, the only thing he does is fixes a partion of his own brutal mistakes. I could accept Sather in a role as tradesman for the Rangers (one of the best in the league), but not as a GM.

Look, how about we see how it plays out.

You people are never happy. You wanted Kotalik gone for a bag of pucks. He is gone & the return was a number 1 center.

Everyone complains we get pushed arount & aren't tough enough, The aforementioned trade gets us a Tough guy.

The trade brings us cap space that everyone was screaming we needed.

Everyone is happy Kotalik is gone. Everyone's happy it cleared cap space, and canceled one of Sather's many errors.

But saying the return was a number 1 center is fiction at best.

I think it's funny that anyone voted that we are worse off having Jokinen playing than having Kots sitting in the press box.

It would be hard to get any worse!

Have you watched this team as of late?

As long as sather is in control, we will just have more of the same...

Hideous ridiculous signings, that leave us handcuffed and incomplete, he has been totally moronic in how he has pieced together this garbage for years!

FIRE HIS STUPID ASS ALREADY!!!

How many more Drury, Gomez, Redden, Roszival, Kotalik, Brashier signings do we need to endure???

IF they lose tonight, I can't wait to see the overwhelming no votes that come in.

Kotalik is a bad player. We know that.

Jokinen, we don't know yet.

So, going with the logic of throwing in with the possibly good versus the known bad, Jokinen is a superstar.

I believe Jokinen will have better luck in Rangers. Together with Gaborik.
