This isnt an Eklund rumor but from Marinaro so it is pretty close
Price & Patch's to the Red Wings
Anyone heard anythign else about it?
What could we possibly get from them to make us consider that? Smith/ Kindl kinda intrigue me, but other then that we would need bottom six depth and giving away Patches doesn't help us
If we trade Price we will experience the Roy trade all over again
It's all about who you receive, not necessarily who you trade. It became the "Roy" trade when we received an average goalie and 2 3rd liners for one of the best goalie that has ever played the game.
The Ribeiro trade was THAT awful 'cause of Niinimaa. You succeed in getting a guy like Trevor Daley and a 1st round pick that became Kris Letang and you don't talk a whole lot about Ribeiro. Mind you, Ribeiro was not worth that much. But I'm just saying that it's a lot about who you receive.
And the clear example is the Latendresse-Pouliot trade. You would have seen a riot if Latendresse with his record would have been traded for a plugger. It became a fine trade 'cause of who we received.
You end up trading Price for Steve Mason and Derick Brassard, Steve Mason regains his old form and become the great goalie he was and Brassard explodes, and even if Price ends up great, it wouldn't be that much of a problem. Again, this is not a trade proposal. Just talking about another example of how it wouldn't be that bad.

Last time I checked, I did not see that Price has already won two Stanley Cups or won any individual Award at NHL level (don't bring the All Star Game, please !).

Do you think we would get an established your star for Price? I don't think we will so it makes it a very bad time to trade him. We won't get a Stamkos or Tavares, yet Price has as much of a chance of carrying a team to a cup than they do.
Yeah great reading skills that was the entire point of my post Price = Roy.
They would be similar by we give up a great goaltender and we receive sweet **** all. Therefore we get ***** again just like the Roy trade.
Price is not a great goaltender, Price can become a great goaltender.
Right now he is a young goaltender with great potential who has some weaknesses, is inconsistent and not focused 100% of the time and has supposedly some attitude problems (RUmours in the media, Markov's words to him, etc..)

That's why you either keep both or trade Halak. If you make a mistake and Halak reaches his maximum potential, you haven't traded away the next Roy/Luongo/Brodeur, but that's the case if you trade Price and he reaches his.

Not disagreeing with you guys on that at all. If possible I would keep both until it is crystal clear who you have to keep.

Yes, Price as has as much chance. But he's not there yet. I can name you a lot of players who can also do just that not named Tavares. And it's possible that Price doesn't fulfill the expectations and the ones we get do. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not for trading Price.

What happens if you end up trading Vokoun to keep Garon? Since both ways are equally possible at this point, it is obviously way too early to trade either.
*On James Wisniewski. The BLackhawks and Canadiens are rumoured to be interested in the Anaheim D-man.
*On Frolov... There are rumors he is headed to Montreal if Whitney is signed. I am hearing Frolov if off the table right now. In fact I do know LA could have had Kovalchuk for Frolov and they chose to keep him.
