Not that I take Eklund too seriously, but I do follow him on twitter and this is what he is saying:

Montreal is not done. don't have any details yet, only to say I was told this is "first of three, and one more could come tonight or tomorrow." may get more.

Ek just said that Ray Whitney will be traded to a team in the East... Bruins? Sabres?

What is it with the Habs being interested in small guys? I will guess it will be the Bruins or Pens...The Bruins need scoring (well except tonight) and the Pens need scoring wingers..

Can't see it being done as he is looking for a contract as well, we have bigger people to sign next year and need to show commintment and good faith to them over a UFA coming in on a trade.

Some trades are obviously pending as McKenzie is looking at his BlackBerry feverishly.

Whitney didn't waive his NTC to go to LA. I doubt he waives it to go here. I 've seen a couple of places that he wants to go to Pittsburgh. Makes sense for him, shot at a cup and it's a good fit from Pittsburgh's POV.

Not to add fuel to the fire but patrickcaisse who started this whole Frolov thing mentioned in the afternoon that we were looking at 3 proposals... Eklund then mentions that the Moore trade is possibly one of 3 but then denies Frolov to the Habs... make of it what you will

Boy, you know it's getting close to the trade deadline when the press box starts getting overloaded with scouts. Here's the list of teams sending scouts to the game Thursday night against the Sharks at Joe Louis Arena:

Florida, Dallas, Vancouver, Washington, Edmonton, Tampa Bay, Montreal, New York Islanders, Ottawa and Chicago.

Cogliano will be a Hab by March 3rd

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...eserve/1/26285

On Montreal...

The Canadiens are not getting Frolov. Not yet at least. The rumors won't quit however. But they were extremely active yesterday in trying to make something happen. They are in on several players I am told, and had some serious talk with Florida, St. Louis, Carolina, Phoenix and Edmonton.

The Habs are interested in Horton, Booth, Andy McDonald (who the Blues also talked to the LA Kings about), Tuomo Ruutu, Whitney, Peter Mueller, and Ethan Moreau.

However, the number one target appears to be Cogliano, who I am told is "highly likely" to be a Hab by March 3.

Will Price be moved? One source said his name did come up in at least one deal discussed last week.
I would love to have Horton, Moreau, Ruutu or Both! Cogliano (I think) is destined to be a Hab playing on a line with Pouliot sooner than later.

I don't see why it would happen. Especially edmonton is getting rid of veterans not young guys. Horton is actually playing well in florida and i believe he's under contract for a while, they lose on the deal big time. I see this as eklund just talking, I don't see how it could realisticly happen.

Why do we want cogliano? We don't need more forwards. If we get him, it means pleks or gomez is on his way out, and replacing pleks with cogliano would be a gigantic failure and I'll be the first to call for gauthier's head.

less now that Gauthier is there. I will tell this however. I have talked to more than one team who has turned down Huet trades this year. So there was a time Montreal was ready to move him. Are they now? I think Gauthier would more likely move Price.

Four of the questions related to the Habs. You guys laugh at him but he's smart making his site popular as hell as long as you keep clicking it.

Another plausible theory is that he's bombarded by questions from Habs fans.

Yup...I don't know if he means something to both Montreal and Chicago or it's something happening between the 2 teams...

Here is what he wrote...
