1....2....3.... SPECULATE!

Benn, Cogliano, Brule to Montreal.

Halak and Montreal's 1st our out the door.

I got no clue what we could want from either team.

I want Neal, Eriksson, Benn, Niskanen, Morrow, Hemsky.

go.
likely no substance to this one, as usual... but here's my shot at it:

To Dallas: (gives Turco, Niskanen, Brunnstrom)
Cogliano
Souray
D'agostini

Why?- Dallas gets a young cheap 2-way forward needing a change of scenery, a rugged PP specialist dman(adding much needed size/grit to their defense) and a borderline top 6 prospect, while getting rid of Turco's remaining contract, and dumping the disappointing Brunnstrom.

To Edm: (gives cogliano, brule, souray, 3rd)
Halak
Spacek
Brunnstrom

Why?- Edm gains their goalie of the future(and present) who is still relatively cheap, swap dmen getting a cheaper similarly productive player who enjoyed success there, and a project top 6 winger with good size/speed.

To Mtl: (gives Halak, Spacek, D'agostini)
Brule
edm 3rd 2010
Niskanen
Turco

Why?- Mtl gets cheaper and younger (for 2010-11), gains another 2005 reclamation project who fills a 3rd line centre (with secondary scoring potential) need cheaply, a young/cheap Rdman whose best season came playing next to a player quite similar to Markov... could be a great fit... a #1 goalie that, though a salary dump they would not re-sign, can split time with Price down the stretch and hopefully set a good professional example (and motivated by playing for a new contract even if not in montreal), and a very high 3rd round pick... while unloading a contract they don't really need in Spacek.

i think the value for all three teams is pretty solid. Edmonton might be giving up a bit more, but Souray's contract off the books helps them re-tool this offseason, and they get arguably the best player in the entire deal.

Only players Montreal should be looking at from those two respective teams are Penner Neal Benn and Morrow.

That's a horrible deal for Montreal.
Who plays Centre for Montreal?

The only player from Dallas is Morrow.
Turco is a aging UFA
Robidas is having success but not worth Halak PLekanec an potentially a 1st

And here I thought someone was going to say horrible trade for Dallas!

Turco would be the ideal vet to second Price.
The best players of this deal are Morrow and Robidas.
Halak has proven nothing.

It makes us a whole let better. And Pouliot can play center.

Robidas would be the number 3 or 4 in Montreal and Turca is overpaid aging UFA

No thanks

Only players from Dallas I would want Morrow Benn and Neal the rest are not worth it.

What did Prive prove?

Halak just proved that he can hold his own as a no1 goalie in the NHL, that he doesn't cry when not used properly and that he can beat the best players in the world.

...I think Halak proved more than enough to know we just can't trade him this season.

Anyway, as long as both Halak and Price will be on the team, there are people who'll put Halak in every trade scenarios possible.

So what is this thing that as happened with the Habs could he be referring to? Must be Gainey leaving I guess..

Is there anyone on Edm and Dal that are considered game changers?
If Price is involved, it may suggest more conspiracy theories regarding BG and his exit...

I can't fill in the blanks, don't know enough about Edmonton's needs to do so. I know Dallas wants to shed salary bad, as in real salary not cap, so Gomez becomes interesting to them for years to come.

i am not going to think about the actual deal... if there is one,

I'd like the habs to be targetting on:
Edmonton:
Sam Gagner (C)
Gilbert Brule (C)
Andrrew Cogliano (C)
Marc Pouliot (C) Wouldnt that be strange, 2 kosts & 2 Pouliots lol
Zack Stortini (RW)
Alex Plante (RHD)

Dallas Stars:
James Neal (LW)
Brendan Morrow (LW)
Jamie Benn (LW)
Matt Niskanen (RHD)

Not saying availability wise, just I'd be interested in them.

I'm certain that Morrow can be moved. He's replaceable, with Ott, Benn, Neal and Eriksson in their top6 and his relatively high salary.

Morrow is a 4.1M cap hit, which is lower than I thought he was at......but I don't think they are trading him...

And who will be Halak's backup? Khabibulin is done for the season so why would Montreal trade for him?

AK + SK for Elias, if we can get rid of Spacek and use Subban instead.

Gomer, Gio and Elias together, with another line of Cammy, Plex and Pouliot.... You could even switch Elias and put him with Plex. We wouldn't have any of the league's most elite talents, but our top 6 would be more complete than most teams.

NJ will be looking to get younger, and they have upcoming contracts that might lead them to some of those choices. If they want to keep Kovalchuk, then they might try this route.

Anyway, just something I thought would be interesting.

Or would AK be better worth keeping in the long run??

What a jackass this eklund guy is. Starts by saying this big imminent deal is expected to go down between us, Edmonton & Dallas, with more details to come rather that very nght, or early the next day...

Then no mention of it other than his retarded 12 hours of talking to him (like he's an elder statesman or something) and a poor write up on the team canada usa game that my twin 1 year olds could have posted.

First off, I wish I could call him out on the 'trade speculation' that he made, without naming a single guy who could be in the trade. I like going there to read his posts (and to hear the talk), however that kind of posts are ludicrous.

Way to leave 'em hanging ek... that's a good way to give some suckers some incentive to buy your ********.

Anyhow, on the game last night... Im not very worried about it... We dominatd the game, & the right goalie will be in the net the rest of the way (Luongo HAS to be the #1 now) in front of his hoomecrowd, in an arena that he is adored in.
Only thing of note is I think there has to be more urgency, more guys going in front of the net, to not let a goalie determine a final in a game again in this tourney.

We have a lot of crash forwards, they have to start doing their job (Save Crosby & Nash).

The ice has to be fixed as well, lots of bouncing puck around last night. It was so chippy, I thought it hindered our game as well..

On to Germany! On to Russia!
On to Olympic Gold!
