We got a player who's playing like a #4 overall pick for a guy who was on the outskirts of our 4th line. If we can pull a deal like the ones you're mentioning for Sharp or Horton, we're in business. Then we only lack a top 4 defenceman.
Yeah i think people really take the Pouliot deal for granted, as if we're supposed to pull off deals like that all the time. Besides Kovalev, I'd say he's the best player we've received via a trade since maybe the dreaded Leclair trade, where we got Recchi. Thats a long long time. We finally got a big body forward with speed and skills and people are still searching for another big top 6 forward. My question is, with AK-Plekanec, Gomez, Gionta, Cammy, and Pouliot, where are you going to put him?

I'd put Horton or Sharp on the 1st line and play the brothers on the 3rd. It would FINALLY give us some real depth up front.

I'm sorry but I'd much rather have Booth and Horton over Cogliano and Brunnstrom.

What's the big deal with Cogliano anyways? He's only a 40 point guy..

Not to mention 5 goals this year..

well hes super young, great on the PK, extremely fast (one of the fastest in the NHL) and on the right team, he could adopt the learning curve like Plekanec did whom at one point we all thought was a 3rd line center.

If we had both Moore and Cogliano in the lineup, I'd think the team is tanking lol I'd prefer Pyatt and White who play with jam

Write it enough times it might come true.

Is there anyone in our entire system Edmonton would give Eberle for? They call him 'The Saviour'.

Wait, Brian Burke is that you?

from what I've seen hes an OKAY player when hes not with any good centers ( 50-60 points) but with a good puck moving center he can be great. I'm not high on him though.

For the sake of rumors, and because this is an Eklund thread...

Vestiaire twitter: Horton, Frolov, Armstrong et Ott dans la mire du CH!

I duno how credible he is, probably no more or less than eklund. Anyway. Discuss!

Eberle is vastly overrated, much like Cogliano was. I think he'll make a good NHLer but he's not going to be a 40 goal NHLer.

Time for a Eklund update... Here's the latest he as posted about the Habs...

Quote:
And one move may be huge.

A source tells me that the Oilers and Habs have a deal that is "somewhat shocking in my opinion and I am hearing all but set." When I asked him if the deal was connected to the Dallas three-way trade he said, "absolutely, although I would not be so certain the Stars part of this deal goes down so quickly. It may or may not happen at all."

So obviously this means the components of the deal are changing and as one source noted, "Three way deals aren't always true 3-way deals, sometimes a team just needs another piece from a third team."
Is the deal shockingly good or shockingly bad for the Habs I wonder? Just watch Price get dealt for a less than an impressive return...

The latest fun from Eklund.

Clearly hinting that Price is going to be traded on Monday in a massive trade.

I'll post back here again after he explains how it fell apart at the last minute

He just had a picture of Price up, doesn't mean anything. I bet he doesn't even know who the players are.

Frolov thing is getting old. I don't see what Armstrong and Ott can possibly fix for the Habs. Horton is not coming here.

I don't think Gauthier is interested dealing Price to Edmonton. If he does, the Rejean Houle decade {version 2k1} has begun.

We clearly need the #6 pick in the 2005 draft. Having the #4, #5 and #6 has to be something Gauthier will so damn proud about.

So the Habs-Oilers deal is......Halak for JDD and Brūle. Fits the mold of what our team is all about.

Except Gauthier clearly stated that he has 2 very good goalies in Montreal and would like it to remain this way. Getting JDD for either goalie doesn't seem to fit this statement.

Gauthier, in the past, have some history of tweaking the truth....Now, it's not a 1 on 1 trade for JDD. You get a big backup but the key is what they could believe in being some more firepower up front with Brule.

Of course, he said "never say never" before that statement

I don't know about acquiring Brule. He seems too similar to what we already have in the lineup. Unless you're making another deal afterward with those similar pieces I'm not seeing acquiring him as a must for the habs.

This is probably where you can add Dallas in the mix and craft a rumor. hehe

As long as Gauthier can get one or two of the following while getting rid of Metropolit(for salary purposes, plus we have Moore now, Lapierre can move back to center), I'll be a happy camper.

Armstrong
Crombeen
JF Jacques

I would love to see a bottom six like this

Armstrong Moore Sergie
Crombeen Lapierre Moen
