I thought he played horribly for the Devils, he hogged the puck and made selfish plays. Never really thought much of Kovalchuk, and after that even less so.

I always thought this was what the habs was lacking. We have so many forwards that can shoot but don't and having an elite hog would be a welcome to the team. I'd love Kovalchuk on this team

Yet, so many would trade Plek for Staal...
It is interesting to look at Plek linemates.
Cammy was his linemate about 40% of the time.
Plek was able to produce with a lot of different linemates.

To be fair, Cammy is better than Cooke...

do a playoff comparsion

He was pretty good this time. Lacked production, but so did everyone but Cam and Gionta.

So would I. With his style of play though, you won't need much more than a competent center. A very good center like Plekanec might actually be detrimental. A guy like Moore for 1.2M would be adequate enough.

Sharp put up 66, and only 16 of those were PP points...and he won a cup, plus he still played a checking role and got his points. Are you going to argue Plek's is better by fours points?

You do realize that Jordan is behind Crosby and Malkin?

He would be a 1st - 2nd line centre on most teams.

Plek's had 24 PP points to Staal's 5 PP points, so the even strength Plek's is now a 46 point player and Staal 40 point player.

Plek's is a good checking line centre, but in no way is he in the Sharp and Staal category.

Whatever happened to MolsonMan? Anyone remember him ... last quality "source/insider" i remember. he got that BG was signing on as Habs new GM and something else too.
Apparently, coming from some other board, MolsonMan was our...actual owner! He had announced Michel Therrien's firing the day prior, and had predicted Claude Julien's hiring.

He was mostly on habsrus, which is pretty much for the over 30s crowd. It would be sweet if that was the case . He predicted Gainey's hiring months before it happened, in a pretty detailed way as well (did not want to say it was him outright though).

New respect for Eklund

if anyone bashes this guy its me
i fully boycotted his site and wouldnt listen to any more of his rumors
but over the past few days Eklund has been bang on

1st the Horton deal
then he called the salary cap raise before anyone else
and now he called the buff trade before 4th period, kevin allen and Bob Mckenzie, and not just by a few seconds but by a good 15 mins

If Eklund can keep this up maybe he can actually become a legit source but well have to see

from Eric Engles twitter....

hey twitter...specifically all you nhl reporters..for all the bashing you do, @Eklund should get credit for CHI deal.he beat everyone to it

Maybe he has new sources. I've noticed since the season ended he's been getting things right mostly. Also it'd important to note that just because someone says something and it doesn't happen doesn't mean it wasn't talked about.

You know what, this thread shows 100% what Hab fans are.. A player can be good/bad for his whole career, and then he has 2 good/bad games, and he begins to get respected/bashed based on those 2 games lol..

I think he has new sources cause he is 4 for 4 over the past couple of days. He even called the Horton trade weeks before it happened.

But let's not get carried away here. Let's see how he does over the next few months.
