Christensen Should be Playing With Gaborik

Am I the only one that see's that Christensen can play.. has some moves.. and shows chemistry with Gaborik.

Along with...

Can't disagree. Ever since torts gave him a shot on that first line, he hasn't disappointed for the most part. For the latter half of the season he has been the best center on that line. I can understand JT wanting to try Olli out up there his first game, but Christensen will hopefully be a lock there.

This. Rangers were doing well when it was Dubi-Christensen-Gaborik. Prospal comes back, Torts breaks it up, bam, down the crapper.

Prospal and Gaborik play well together though. They have some good chemistry out there

Ugh. This loss just made me blow a gasket tonight. I'm just disgusted by so many things... but this one. This one just irks me.

We can't score at all... so we busted up our only consistent line that showed ANY form of chemistry? BRILLIANT!

I have no clue why they were broken up after the game they had against Colorado. It makes no sense. Torts line combos leave me scratching my head at times.

I think they wanted to give Ollie lots of ice time to get acclimated...

I agree Christ is our 1st line C

Ollie should be on a 2nd line to provide another shooter, secondary scoring.

Hopefully we just see this on Thursday

Instead of focusing on secondary scoring, Sather & Torts have been obsessing over finding a #1 C for Gaborik since the summer, and I guess they think that Jokinen will be that guy.

I'd much rather have Jokinen on one of the lower lines. Reunite Dubi-Christensen-Gaborik, put Prospal-Jokinen-Cally on the second line.

just because gabby and christensen scored doesnt mean that jokinen, prospal and gabby didnt play a good game, they had a number of great shifts where they got great scoring chances.

Christ looks good with Gabby. Joke should center Dubi and Cally.

There is no doubt in my mind that Christy and Gabby need to play together. I would also like to see Dubi on that line, these 3 were quite succesfull together few weeks ago and would like to see them light it up again. However I wouldnt be dissapointed if its Gabby - Christy - Prospal.

2 scoring lines??
you mean 2 lines (minus gab) that will skate around and make pathetic attempts at shots on goal and furthermore embarrass themselves.

im kinda sad kotalik and higgins are gone...they were hilarious to watch, i guess jokinen will have to stand in for comedy relief

Dubi-Christensen-Gaborik
Prospal-Jokinen-Cally
Avery-Anisimov-Drury
Prust-Boyle-Voros

I think this would be the best line combinations. The Dubi-Christensen-Gabby line played great together. And by putting Prospal and Jokinen together with Cally they might have a 2nd scoring line.

I agree. I definitely think Christensen should see time with Gabby and maybe Dubi on the left side. And I liked what I saw from Prospal and Jokinen.

EDIT: Lol. Didn't see the above post:

Let Prospal-Christenson-Gaborik be the #1 line until the chemistry desolves. Put Jokinen between Cally and Dubi or even Avery. OJ likes to create offense and shoot the puck. Great, Cally can crash the net and look for deflections and rebounds. Same with Avery/Dubi. Or they can cycle the puck and both have the passing ability to get the puck to Cally or Ollie depending on who is open. My lines:
Prospal-Christenson-Gaborik
Dubi-Jokinen-Callahan
Avery-Anisimov-Lisin
Boyle-Drury-Prust

extra: Voros (play him against grittier teams on the 4th line. Take Lisin out and move up Dru to the RW, shift Boyle back to C). Brashear can rot in the pressbox for all I care. I really wanted it to work out since we invested so much in him, but he's been awful in every aspect of the game.

Agreed, I think they had a decent first period, but after that, there wasn't much flare. Knowing J.T. he'll shuffle things up again, and we may yet see O.J. back on the first line for another try, but I'd still prefer Christensen.

Yeah neither do I. It's still pissing me off...

They clearly showed chemistry together in early January when Prospal was injured. And we saw the chemistry again late in Colorado and at the end of the game vs LA.

REUNITE THEM FFS!

Christensen's game is playmaking. from what i've seen he gets in good positions as an outlet guy, and is without a doubt the best passer on this club. everytime torts moves him up with gabby and prospal, both wingers seem to get a boost. doesn't hurt any that he doesn't mind going into high traffic areas to dig the puck out either.

the best benefit of that, to me, is that lets dubi slide to wing and gives us a

dubi-jokinen-callahan/anisimov second line, which should be able to put up points more regularly then the mess of second lines we've been throwing out there all season.

i agree inferno, but gaborik and prospal really shouldn't need any special centerman. really they do best when whoever is between them plays as a more classic pivot anyway, and allows them to play fluidly.

plus we desperately need scoring from a second line (and i can't remember any teams getting out of the first round the past few years that didn't have 3 producing lines). moving jokinen down and sliding dubi might remedy that for now

Yes, Christensen has skill. And yes Christensen's best place on this team is with Gaborik. But this is only because he's too soft to be effective on the forecheck with a more grinding line. The occassional assist however does not necessarily make up for the flaws in the rest of his game. We should all keep in mind that on most other teams - like the kings for instance - he wouldn't even make the cut.

Lets not get carried away. He has played with him a few times this season and yeah has looked good in flashes. Has he been able to hold that spot down? No. We need some consistancy, not sure Christensen can bring it.

All in all that was a very nice pass for the goal tonight so it should buy him another game there, lets see what he can do with it.
