We almost got rid of Fingers contract

The Maple Leafs wanted to retain Jason Blake and offered up D Jeff Finger instead but the Ducks said no.

I could care less either way. Getting rid of Blake was much more important imo. I dont think its surprising to anyone that the leafs are trying to get rid of him but gl with that. The mistake was overpaying him and therefore making him are hard player to trade.

The Ducks said no they didn't want him, as any sane team would. How does one get "almost got rid of Fingers(sic) contract" out of that?

We almost got rid of Finger's contract, but Anaheim didn't want him.

We almost traded Kaberle for Kessel and a 1st, but Boston wanted more.

Guys, we almost got Iginla. Burke offered to take Iginla back instead of Sjostrom and Aulie in the Phaneuf trade but Sutter said no.

Finger can't even outplay Exelby for the 6th d-man spot, how can anyone want him?

It was being dicussed you clown and Burke was trying to shop him around as he still is. He was offered in the trade and I am more than sure the other team thought about it.

For a 6 year member, use you head a little more.

We almost got the #5 pick from LAK at the last draft, but LAK said no.

Just because he's offered in a trade, doesn't mean we almost traded him.

Because it was discussed and thought about by both ends, yes it does mean that. Its not hard to comprehend here. I guess I am having a conversation with 15 year olds who do not to understand how it works.

if Finger was making close to league minimum would people still hate him, or is it just the fact that he's nowhere near earning the paycheck he gets? He seems like a good guy, but plays in a bubble, every mistake he makes is magnified by the fact that Cliff sniffed too much glue and sign the wrong Av's defenseman! I hope for Jeff's sake, he realizes that he's been priced out of a NHL job, and devotes himself to helping the young kids on the Marlies next year.
