LOL @ Brooks criticizing Torts for putting the new 1st line center on (gasp) the 1st line for almost a whole game to try it out. LB can suck it.
agreed...Brooks is a D-bag
his points usually only make sense if you refuse to think for yourself
meanwhile....the new lines that were just mentioned sound pretty good to me
very curious to see Dubi-Jokinen-Cally....im guessing they'll look pretty good at first but ultimately produce nothing and get split up at some point in the near future
Dubinsky-Jokinen-Callahan is pretty contingent on Jokinen finding his scoring touch (well, the success of any line with him on it is contingent on that)
It could work out pretty well in some ways...Dubinsky controlling the puck and making room, Jokinen shooting, Callahan cleaning up rebounds, etc
Breaking up the Dubi-Christensen-Gaborik line was dumb by Torts. If it is not broke dont fix it.
I prefer Avery on the third line instead of the fourth he has been one of the rangers better forwards on the westcoast trip. That way you can kind of spread some of the gritty players throughout the lineup and he has played well with Anisimov and Lisin.

Agree 100%. There's no logical reason for breaking up that line. When something's working you don't mess it up because a player is coming back from injury.
The previous coach who shall not be named got HAMMERED on these boards for juggling line combos. Meanwhile, Tortorella looks like a mad scientist compared to him.

If it's not broke? The Rangers have NINE goals in their last SEVEN games. It's broken. There was no reason not to try it.
I like these lines. I remember Calgary fans saying Jokinen works better with hard forecheckers and I think we can all agree Dubinsky and Callahan do that well. Still gonna be tough to stop this freight train that is Washington but at least our lines might make sense for once.
LB is a whining, self-absorbed, child who happens to have a job at a paper who values that kind of reporting. The guy is a bum, and shouldn't be taken seriously on issues of Torts judgment.
Dude changed his lines just as much as Tortorella. Let's not start some BS.
Though I can say that yeah I think Tortorella should leave his lines together a little more...he tends to mix things up during games when it isn't working, but then go back to what's worked in the past for the next game.
Also, to be honest I'd be pretty freaked out of I was a coach and I was putting Christensen out there as the teams first line center. That definitely puts a "this is a ****** team" cast on the whole thing. I don't think Christensen is a reliable center for Gaborik overall, and Tortorella knows that.
At least the guy Torts decides to always scratch is Brashear, a better candidate than Prucha was.
This is old news. It's now February. This article should have been back in early January when Prospal came back.
I said back then why is Propal always on the first line. and that Dubinsky Christensen Gaborik was working well. Half this board said they rather had Prospal instead of Christensen,(paraphrasing) 'cause Christensen is playing great now but will disappear again'
This team just sucks. Line combos be damned.
we are never gonna know which lines work well because they will
never be together long enough.
I couldn't agree more. Torts gets a line that seems to click and then he changes it up again. I think it is time to get rid of Torts and his line changes. There is no way these players can get any chemistry going if they never stay on the same line for more than maybe two shifts.
We need Torts Reform ...I like the guy and was very excited to have him coach this lazy group....he needs to stop messing around with the lines...at the start of the season I figured he was trying to find what worked...but it hasnt stopped...leave Gaby and Christensen together.....that seems to be one of the few things on this team that works.
By there record, I think he's still trying to find something that works.
Seriously though, I think at least some of this can be attributed to the compressed schedule and lack of practices. There isn't the time to try out new line combos in practice, the only opportunity, is during a game.
But yeah, I can see how line chemistry could be tough.
didn't Jokinen play LW in all those glorious years in Florida? We have to test him with Gaborik to see if he can find his old form. He did so well for so many years playing with Horton, Weiss, Josef Stumpel (and not the good version in Boston) for Christs sake! Maybe Dubi and Cally are perfect for him? It didn't work for him w/ Iginla... hmm...
maybe the version Torts is going with could work out... As long as we keep Christ and Gabo together. The rest, just try to find the right mix. Heck, maybe we need Jokinen and Prospal playing together. We know Dubi played well with Christ and Gabo. That could work too...
Staal-Gilroy
Del Zotto-Sauer
Rozsival/Redden-Girardi
Yea, I think Sauer's stay-at-home physical play could really benefit Del Zotto, and let him take the puck.
Staal-Girardi is the same concept as DZ-Sauer.
Redden/Rozsival don't need to play every game sorry, but they're a damn disgrace. Split time with Girardi as their partner and don't give them much ice-time.
