Next Top Team

We've seen Pittsburgh do it.
Washington aswell...
Chicago...

Those three teams were probably the worst three teams in the league some years ago, but now they've made it to the top through drafting etc.

What teams are up and coming, and in five years will be the next Pittsburgh?

My guess goes to... Tampa Bay () or LA.

Tampa does seem to have the top end talent, but their management is kind of a mess.

I like the direction Edmonton is going with its prospects, even if the NHL team is a disaster right now.

Edmonton or LA.

Tampa Bay has incredibly bad ownership and management. If they fix that problem then them too.

The Bruins could be scary as well if they tank the rest of the year and get two top 8 picks or so.

Oilers would my guess if they build right. Leafs had a chance if Burke hadn't gave away his young guns and traded those picks

LA is the easy one. If Edmonton and Atlanta were to decide to go all-in on a rebuild, and do it halfway competently, I think they'd make some noise. I also sorta like NYI's chances.

If I had the option I'd be shipping off to sunny LA for a long-term contract right now

If Kovi goes to LA, they should probably bump up to the #1 spot in the West.

As ugly as they are, the Islanders I can see stepping up big time in the next few years too.

Tampa's management is just too messy.

LA sounds good.

My first two guesses would be Tampa Bay and Los Angeles. Both have young franchise defensemen in Hedman and Doughty.
