Souray names Kings as one of the 6 teams

interesting how Souray named us as one of the 6 teams he'd be willing to go to. when was hte last time you heard that happen?

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=308945

wouldnt be surprsied if this trade went through. Lombardi wants a defender, and he'd be a helluva lot cheaper than kovy. We could probably even kick back some deadweight, but frankly, I don't think we have too much deadweight on our team.

No thanks.

The only way I could see DL doing this is if the Oilers could somehow pay some of the remainder of his deal. But i dont think thats allowed.

Ya I wouldn't mind getting Souray. Even with a broken hand he should be back and ready to play as soon as the Olympics are over...

I would really like him on the back end for a few years, take the role of O'D. Guy can play.

I like his game, but he's too expensive and injury prone.

No thanks.

Zeiler and Harrold would not get Souray and what contracts would you send back?

From my point of view Souray will not be a King.

We are on a list with 6 other teams, that's it.
The other teams will go hard for Souray.
Lombardi will give it a try but will not push hard because
we need and offensive upgrade.

To have Souray will be cool but who to trade???
Everyone with value will destroy our chances of Kovalchuk.
Even Edmonton will not give him away for free...

That reasons make me think he will not be a King

So basically, for the most part, people just want to sign cheap players that have never had one injury in their career and think that will win us the Cup? I'm sure every GM in the world would love to be able to do that but it isn't reality. I don't know why people think we can't have a few big contracts on our roster. Chicago has Kane, Teows, Campbell, Huet etc, Pittsburgh has Crosby, Malkin, Gonchar, Fleury, Detroit has Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom etc, and they seem to be able to make it work. Why can't we have Kopitar, Smyth and add a Kovalchuk, Souray or someone like that? Doughty isn't due for another two years and by that time we won't have Zeus, Frolov, Stoll etc...These GM's know how to sign more than one big player to a big contract and make it work with the rest of the team. I'm tired of watching this team not make the playoffs or when they do, get outsted in the first or second round. Bring in some ringers for the fans so we can finally make a Cup run!!

Adding Souray, would make it difficult to sign one of those big name players you're talking about, while retaining good support players and our young studs.

Souray is averaging 48GP over the last 3 seasons. No thanks.

Repeat of what I mentioned before, but ...

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?p...blogger_id=125

Quote:
He’s 33, has a bad shoulder, he’s been concussed, now also has a surgically-repaired broken hand, and he has a $ 5.4 Mil cap hit for the next two seasons.

Of course he would like to be closer to his children here in L.A., but he had the opportunity to sign deals with the Ducks and the Kings in 2007, and didn’t. Guess he likes money more than his kids?

A source close to the situation told me, “The Kings don’t seem like they’re interested”.
.. so can we PLEASE STOP with the Souray talk ??? ... nope probably not

.... like I said , nope probably not

Pass, this is a guy that if he was in the last year of his contract I would say go for it. I don't like the contract, the injury history and sloppy defense but I like the team player aspect, the size and the shot.

They would IF Edmonton is actively trying to trade Souray's bad contract.

From what I've seen of Souray, his defense is suspect; wouldn't call him a replacement for OD. At least, not in terms of his game...maybe in terms of leadership.

They are No they wouldn't. Some other team in win it all mode would offer more.

Same reason why we are out of the running for IK.
