Blake Wheeler to Kings

What would it take?

He would be sick on a line with Frolov and Zeus

Probably an overpayment on the Kings part only because Wheels is the only guy the B's have with the potential to be a legit 1st line scoring winger.

Considering what he did to Phoenix, I am pretty sure he isn't a Lombardi-type player.

I think for that reason he is gonna have less value to most GM's even though he is a young, skilled top6 winger. Which is why Boston will hold onto him.
No, that's not what happened.

We offered him the MAX, and used a CBA loophole to enter free agency. Still a ***** move on his part, though

He used the rules to avoid ending up in Phoenix, which is the right move.

Wheeler took less money than he could've had in Phoenix so he could choose where he'd play, he had that right and he used it. Its business. That team was in disarray and the guy that drafted him was fired. Phoenix got the 35th pick of the 08 draft as compensation.

The Bruins need a scoring winger and a puck moving defenseman, I don't think the Kings have either of those available.

Right, so it s a crap move on Gaineys part for trading Lats, and who just traded Phaneuf? NJ just traded a kid they drafted, poor guy hadnt even gotten to put the sweater on it, and already he'd been shipped out etc etc etc.

this one way sense of loyalty is whats disgusting.

Wheeler didnt do a thing wrong. He choose to stay in school, get his education, and become a free agent and control his own destiny.

he didnt do a dam thing outside of the CBA. he didnt hold out. he demand more money. he didnt sign a contract then not show up.

managment looks at players as part of the buisness and trades them when it for there benefit, and players do the same.

get over it.

Maybe this would work? Something along these lines

LA gets:
Wheeler

BOS gets:
Souray
Drewiske

EDM gets:
2nd round pick from BOS
3rd round pick from LA
Schenn

So you're condoning the fact that a player who was drafted by a team should be allowed to play for whoever he wants? Its not a matter of where or what team it was. What would be the point of the draft if a couple years down the road the player could jump ship from a team who drafted him?

You're a Kings fan? So LA gives up Schenn and a 3rd for Wheeler?

Then Edmonton gets Schenn and a 2nd, and a 3rd for Souray?

Just the fact that he cost the Coyotes a 5th overall pick is a real tough pill to swallow. If he didn't want to play in Phoenix he could have went to management and requested that they trade him long before so they could get something more than a 2nd round pick for the kid.

Yeah, if that's the price, as a Bruins fan I'll just take Schenn and the 3rd. Screw Souray.

Wheeler won't be traded and the Kings wouldn't give up Schenn for him.

The Bruins likely didn't trade for Kovalchuk because it would have cost them Wheeler. So they're not going to move him for bits and pieces. He's big, fast, great hands, kills penalties, tons of upside... He's a guy they need to keep now that they missed out on the big fish.

LA could probably get Sturm though. He has a NTC that's going to expire at the end of the season, so he'd probably be open to waiving it to have a say in where he's dealt.

I would be down to get Sturm for the right price. He's speedy and good for around 25 goals. Would Purcell, Martinez, and a 2nd get it done?
