Brashear to waivers

Take him for the flyers this weekend and for the playoff?

No but not because we don't need a goon but because we don't need a washed up goon who has lost the fire and has nothing to prove anymore. There was a time when Brash was a beast and was doing his job to the perfection but not anymore. Now he's just Laraque v 2.0 which is something we clearly don't need.

I'd still take a good young and upcoming goon like Matt Kassian though. Those are the guys who will go to war and will play their role because they are young , hungry and have something to prove. I am also a supporter of going after Artyukhin in the off season.

You must have him confused with Laraque.

Brashear is a pretty good skater, however he makes a lot of money I think.

I agree. If we are to have another goon, we need to get someone a little younger, hungrier and willing to do what the job is all about. I'd even be happy with a career minor leaguer in this role.

We don't need someone some vet goon who will only fight when he feels he has to.

Goons are usually the most popular guy in the dressing room amongst his teamates. We didn't get that from Laraque, we won't from Brashear.

Just to stir things up, I'll boldly state that I think this team has played some of its most inspired and tough brand of hockey without a heavy weight in its lineup (the championship year comes to mind).

And I mean tough as in stick up for one another tough, get right back up after a solid check and keep going tough, take the punishement to make a play or draw a call tough. Stand your ground in post-whistle fisticuffs tough.

I for once hope this team never brings an other of those useless one-dimensional WWF fighters to this team. Let the other teams who still don't get it waste money and roster spots on guys like Brashear and Laraque.

Why in the hell is almsot every waiver wire player a good fit for Montreal???

Do people not realize we got rid of one player in that mold already in Laraque and we have been better for it...why take on a headache, and another fighter past his prime.

In the few games I got to watch him play this season, I was pretty shocked to see how he can still skate... he looked faster than I remembered.

Much better player / skater than BGL, not even comparable.

He could really elevate them. I could see them rounding out nicely with support.

Without his support, I'm afraid they'd just flop around with no direction.
