Question from a flames fan

Hey guys,

Just wanted to see what everyone thinks of Jokinen so far? I know it's only a couple games but we don't get to see too many NYR games. Saw the stats of last game and it sounds like he did okay.

Beyond just his personal stats, what do you think of him?

I always saw him as a guy that just didn't fit in our system...but still don't like playing against him.

I would say: so far, so good.

Obviously it's very early in his stint as a Ranger, but he is big, he shoots, he seems to know where to be, he's physical.

Defnitely a plus for us over Kotes & Higgins especially when you consider Kotes' contract. But that is specific to our situation.

Also: I love his giant forehead!!!

I think it's too early to tell. Nice goal last night but waaay too many penalties. Personally I'm not ready to look at him as anything but a rental and a way out of Kotalik's contract. If we can't get Kovalchuk in the offseason the likelyhood or resigning Jokinen goes up assuming he gels well here and takes a bit of a salary cut.

He's been okay. He definitely is more effective than Kotalik. He is better in the offensive zone, decent at faceoffs. That said, not in love with his play in the D zone or Neutral Zone. Mistake prone, somewhat lackidasical, takes lazy penalties at times.

I don't think he will be resigned at season's end. He will take a serious pay cut after this season if he stays in the league. Definitely not worth 5 mil.

Prust didn't get a lot of ice time the second game. But looks like he can play with a slightly more skilled game and can fight. A happy addition for the fourth line.

It's too early. He had a good game statistically, but he couldnt stay out of the box last night. One or two of the penalties may have been "good" penalties I guess.

That was one of his major downfalls I saw here in Calgary, he was notorious for taking lazy penalties.

He looks like a pretty good second line center. Not the fastest skater in the world but solid all around.

Complains; takes too many penalties, and needs to backcheck better.

Prust will work his a** off every night. Jokinen not so much but at least everyone knows what he's capable of when he really wants to play. In Calgary we were more ticked about Prust leaving.

He'll definitely help a lot Torts to balance his line-up. We're too much thin at centre to nitpick. Individually? Time will tell...

I hope you guys benefit from having Joker. I'd love to see him regain some lost form in New York. This could be a good trade for both teams. I've really liked both Kotalik and Higgins so far. Higgins works hard every minute and is a solid PK'er. Kotalik has an excellent shot and solid offensive skill and he has worked hard so far for Brent Sutter, who, in turn, has given him ample opportunity to play well.

tbh i like getting prust more then joker. I saw us taking joker as a way to unload kotalik's awful contract onto calgary.

No idea what the hell the flames are doing right now, they have like 30 players on their roster.

edit: 25 players.. but 16 forwards

makes no sense at all

He's got to get rid of the handlebars before I can take him serious on this team.

That is all.

Maybe it's just me, but after watching these two games Jokinen might have one of the worst shots I've ever seen out of a guy that's scored 30+ goals multiple times. Just seems like his wrister flutters.

Joker has been ok, did well last night and can see him becoming an important part of the Rangers in the push for the play-offs.

hes a rental.....too expensive. Rather see the roster spot go to a kid next season.

Might be the goofiest looking ****er I've ever seen in a Rangers sweater.

Good luck with Higgins...he did everything right here except score..... good player...played hard.

I think that even if he scored in his own net by accident, it would be an upgrade over what we sent the other way.

Its a little too early to tell but so far he looks like a solid number 2 center. He will help out a lot on the power play too. But he needs to cut down on those lazy penalties that is going to drive Torts crazy.

our problem is that most of our D Men suck in their own zone and in the def zone.

So far so good....

I like him as the 2nd line Center and the PP

Torts should just stick with this and roll with it.

I see Kotalik and Higgins both got decent icetime tonight for the Flames. Thats great. Hope it works out for them.
