Jonathan Quick has 33 wins to lead the league. The NHL record is 48, held by Martin Brodeur. The Los Angeles Kings have 25 games remaining. Should he continue at his current pace, it will be very, very close.

I don't think it would happen, but amazing that it could even be close. It really puts our season into perspective, doesn't it? WOW.

They'd have to go something like 16-7-2 for that to happen (or 15-8-2 to tie). That's a long, long shot, but the fact that it's even in the realm of possibility is pretty stunning.

Toronto had an epic 3rd period meltdown tonight to lose the game vs. the Devils in regulation, so Brodeur and Quick are tied (pretty amazing in and of itself).

... At best, there should be an asterisk due to the current post-game coin flip that has accounted for 8 of those wins.

Wow, this could be pretty damn cool. I'm an optimist, so I think this is very possible. This team has made GIANT leaps.

Thank you God.

So should Brodeur's.

And stop ****ing starting every damn paragraph with an ellipse AHHHenf0h304hgf93jur-je9-jwg-hegt-934ht-935h

It gives off the impression as if you're starting every post mid-thought and everything you say is profound.

It's REALLY lame.

This is a pretty tall order. I don't see it happening, but it's kinda cool that it's not impossible.

Well, at least we know he'll get the franchise mark for sure. Quite an accomplishment... even if it is for the franchise with the worst goaltending history of all time.

1980-81 Mario Lessard - 35 wins
2009-10 Jon Quick - 33 wins (25 GR)

Of course, because, after all, he is just average.

Brodeur could break his own record this year. He does lead the league in wins.

... Did I say it didn't??? As far as I'm concerned, Bernie Parent still should have the record -- and if not for the shootout, Quick would be 22 wins behind him.

... No more lame than your silly and sad obsession with me. You made a big dramatic production of having me on ignore; why don't you go back to doing that? I couldn't give half a damn if you read my posts or not.

Eh, I get frustrated trying to dissect the whole asterisk thing with sports records.

OK, so fine, Quick has several shootout wins.

If there was no shootout, you can't automatically say all those games would be ties, because OT gets played very differently when a team's last chance for 2 points is those 5 minutes. I know conventional wisdom says that the shootout opens up the ice in overtime because they can't play to a tie anymore, but I don't truly feel that is the case, since so many teams prefer getting to the shootout.

You just can't say what would have happened had you put different people in different eras. Its like when people try to say Sugar Ray Robinson would have kicked the crack out of Manny Pacquiao. Pointless. You can only really be judged by you're W-L record in the end, it's the only remotely fair comparison to go by.

And for the record... ellipses bother me at the start of sentences as well... just not quite as much as they bother aeg
