Gomez for Beauchmin and Finger? Just throwing this out there. Not sure if it is terrible or not?

Then Habs can trade Gill and Hamrlik for picks? Their defense stay roughly same caliber. Hamrlik is better than Beauchmin but Finger better than Gill. Plus Habs free up about another 1 million besides moving Gomez 7.37 million contract hit.

Toronto looking for forwards, Habs looking to free up money to sign Plekaned and Halak to long term deals.

No. Beauchemin is our top minute D man and Finger can be buried. Without taking on that atrocious contract.

Unless Gomez is actually Cammalleri's second name?

I would have to agree Burke's laughs about this one Toronto needs some first line and second line depth i believe they have some really good young stars coming up in the minors like Hanson,Bozak,Stalberg,Rosehill,Kadri as well...

Gill > Finger
Hamrlik > Beauch

And Metropolit will be the center of the 2nd line? hehe, Habs are not L.E.A.F.S.

Bob Gainey laughs a lot and says to Burkie: "i won't help you... mouhahaha"

Your kidding?

Gomez = top 5 worst contracts in the league.

Its pretty hard to bury that in the minors. Finger can be buried and forgotten.

No one is touching him, Gainey made a mistake in taking him on.

I don't think either team does this.

Gomez has a terrible contract, but Gainey made the move less than a year ago... trading him so quickly is admitting a mistake, and I doubt that he'd do that right now.

I could see Gomez being dealt in a year or two, but right now the Habs are stuck with him and that god-awful contract. Not only is it one that most GMs aren't going to want to touch (and don't have the cap flexibility to even try), but how often do you see GMs trading a piece they acquired so quickly?

Too bad for Montreal as it'll probably be the reason why Plekanec can't be retained, but it's done and Gomez will remain a Hab for this season at least.

I'll add this

Finger, Beauchemin>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Gomez

You guys can keep your second line center that's paid like an elite star and we'll keep our dman paid like a second pairing guy and our second pairing guy that's paid accordingly. If Grabovski didn't get hurt he'd be on pace for 8 less points then Gomez this year while playing 3 less minutes per night. I think were fine without the great Gomez. We've already got our second line center. But it's great that you added two players that have nothing to do with the op

I'd rather overpay for one guy than overpay for someone who should be in the AHL and another guy who makes close to $4 million a year and needs a Norris caliber defensemen to make him look decent.

We will keep Beauchamin. Who i think is one of our best defenseman and future Captain.

Id rather bury finger and not pay him, than have another Jason Blake on our hands; who makes 3mil more....

Francois can and has played with anyone on the leafs D lineup and look decent. Watch some hockey.

I did last night when him and the other superstars on Toronto's D allowed 3 goals in the last 3 minutes to lose.

While i fully understand how someone would bury Finger in the minors, Why would someone want to bury Gomez in the minors?

After a slow start with a new team, Gomez is producing since early december at a 70 pts season pace. He's overpaid for sure but by how much? 2.5M$? Certainly not much more, which is less than Finger cap hit.

or we can send Finger down and not pay a guy 7+per and wait 3 months for him to find his game and hope he can maintain it for the rest of the season.

Leafs wouldn't be takign on a bigger salary dump for Finger. There's really no circumstance under which the Leafs can afford to have Gomez on the NHL roster.... so there's no point in making a trade that sees the salary in the minors increase...nevermind giving up Beauchemin.

If Gomez HAD to go to Leafs, then there would have to be some salary comming back our way or at least a pick to compensate the fact that Burke would be taking on one of the worst contracts ever
Gomez for Kadri?
