Didn't realize Leino only has 7 points. Was he doing 4th line time most of the year I guess?

Well considering Detroit already has 8 d-man, I don't see him playing much.

Nope, he played mostly on the second or third line until he became a healthy scratch with half of our lineup out.

Hahahah. Nice to know Columbus fans aren't the only ones to experience this painful opportunity.

So how did he do so good last year as a call up, and not push forward this year?

The fact that Detroit gave up on him, for a guy they could have had off waivers in 3 weeks, is what raises the red flag for me.

You'd think so with those #'s, but uh, no. Babcock played him on the 2nd and 3rd for a bit, dropped to the 4th, then to the 1st for a couple games.

He also has excellent posture in the pressbox.

Mostly the mismatch he created with fourth line opponents. He just isn't strong or fast enough for the top lines, Ville gets pushed around by the average defender. He's also unwilling to go back down to the AHL which is probably why he's the player leaving rather than someone else.

Anything beyond a empty bag of pucks for Leino is a bonus! Yahoo he's someone elses problem now!

As much as I love Powe, He doesnt have the skill for top 6. I'd say Leino gets a chance there.

This is still a smart move by Philly. Leino obviously has some potential whether he realizes it or not so why not take a chance on him when his value is at rock bottom? OKT and a 5th are for from valuable assets.

Im sure OKT will be waived and sent to the Griffens.

Im shocked we got anything for him. Ville Lieno, the walking Poster. The guy skates around with his head down along the boards so damn much.

He cant skate, cant shoot, cant score, has no muscle, no vision, no....

He was Boyd Devereaux post Concussion. But At least Boyd had heart and desire.

I've never seen a guy wear out a welcome in Detroit so damn fast.

The 5th round pick was the most valuable thing in this deal. Otherwise, its trash for trash.

Why the hell would you put Leino above JVR?

If you are gonna put Leino on the 2nd line, be prepared to cuss, and break stuff.

Think Michael Sameulsson's turnover ability with out Offensive awareness and a shot.

He isn't. That's just where the hole is in the lineup.

I have a feeling that with a fresh start in Philly, the big winner from this deal is Leino. He's got an excellent skill set and is only 25. There's still a chance he becomes an excellent pro.

OKT will be waived and added to the stable, so this is a 800K salary dump for a 5th rounder. Not too shabby.

This is just salary cap management by Red wings since they are getting back Franzen soon.

A lessor trade today. But a trade is a trade and I am happy to see something go down.

Someone said they feel bad for leino because he wanted to be detroit red wing bad but he sucks really bad.

Do you feel bad for ME? I want to be a New York Ranger very badly but I cant play a lick of hockey just like this Leino kid. Anyone feel bad for me?

I feel bad for no one. You cant produce? You get demoted or traded (if your lucky). This business is not about heart felt stories or heart warming experiences. Its about putting the best team on the ice no matter WHO the hell wants to play for you bad enough and sucks big time.

Let the kid go. If he sucks like you say he does. Go back to riding in a crickety old bus from one venue to the next trying to earn your 20 thousand dollar paycheck.

Its a business. Not a story book
