Because JVR plays well with Giroux and Asham. Our hole is on Carter's wing right now.

The 5th is easily the highest valued asset in this trade.

~Some~ Wings fans, yes. There are a few of us who don't believe that the D is improved if you're left with Lilja and Ericsson together. I think it will be a disaster.

The trade was pretty much Leino to Philly for OKT, 2011 5th and Wolfy.

We win this deal even if Leino falls on his face. Wolfy is the deal breaker here.

Right. Wouldn't be shocked if OKT never plays a game for them.

For some reasons, I'd like to see Gagne and Richards on different lines...

Gagne only has 8 even strength points

that SUCKS. But someone has to be burdened with him

I think the Wings make a mistake in trading Leino. Give him the time and he will produce. Said to see him go.

Hopefully he clears waivers, because the Griffins really need some help right now.

Nice deal for Philly. I still think Leino can be a solid point producer, he really has struggled this season, but people have had offseasons before.....

Leino always had skill and good upside but didn't pan out. Seemed a little lazy perhaps? Maybe Philly can be the ones to light a fire under his ass.

Laviolette won't play him if he doesn't skate.

It's that simple.

hes not having an off season... He just isnt having a season, period.

He looks and plays disinterested.

Todd Bertuzzi was having an off season. He was hitting posts or shooting wide. But he was hustling, forechecking, backchecking. But he was playing. Lieno was given PP time, He was out on the top line with Datsyuk and Bertuzzi at times. He had ample opportunity to show something, anything.

All he showed was AHL capability. And even sometimes i question that.

Lieno was..... Out there in a wings jersey. Thats about the extent of him.

I don't care how bad Wings fans are saying Leino is. Today is a happy day, espeically waking up to this. So long OKT and Wolfy!!!!

And yes to the comment about "Leino ahead of JVR." As GKJ said, Powe isn't top 6 material, but I also don't see him being scratched in favor of Leino. Giroux/Asham/JVR have chemistry together. Tough to break them up. So I'm not really sure what the play with Leino is..

We call your Ilya Kovalchuk/Olli Jokinen and raise you a Ville Leino.

Now your call, Shero.

I love all these hockey guru's that think the Wings are just making trades for the heck of it. EVERYONE pretty much knew this was coming.

Rock solid.
