These two are going to have one of the best modern rivalries for a long time trading knockouts like this. I love it.

Which proves how good Orr is at his role. He got a regular player for the opposing team to fight him (3 times), and has KOd him 2 of those times not to mention taking him out of the game for atleast 5 minutes. Carkner should avoid Orr if he wants to be a regular player.

He's 2-1 against him, how the hell is that always owning. Orr has 2 dominating wins, Carkner has 1.

He returned to the game and was (sadly) one of our better defenders in the third.

He'll be fighting again in no time, it's not like his face looked like "a bag of stew".

Probably because his legs wouldn't hold him up long enough to take more punches.

That tends to happen when someone gets knocked out. New to hockey?

He got destroyed, was dizzy and had to go to the dressing room. Ya, he did come back but Orr got him pretty good. The fight also really got Leafs going even more. After the disappointment last night, we needed to come out like this.

Actually, you were trying to troll.

http://www.ottawasun.com/sports/hock.../12775216.html

“We got scored on and I thought it would be a good time to go and (Orr) obliged,” said Carkner. “My game plan was try to eliminate his right, but right away I threw a weak left and left myself wide open, and that was about it.

“It’s just a stupid move on my part. I know better than that. So give him another one, and we’ve got to even up the score again.”

Carkner said when he invited Orr to go again later in the first, the Leaf refused.

“Anyways, we’ll get plenty of chances for that later in the season and in coming years,” said Carkner. “He caught me right in the right spot, right on the button. That’s what ended the fight. It happens. You fight 19 times, I guess you’re gonna lose a few.”

You gotta love these two. Hell of a rivalry, and you get the feeling they respect each other. Orr under-estimated him after the first fight and paid for it in the second. Wasn't gonna make the same mistake. Two guys with some of the heaviest hands in hockey.

This is exactly what the battle of Ontario needed. I can't wait until round four.

This is what happens when you have heavyweights who are all-offense when it comes to fighting.

Whoever gets tagged first loses.

Props to Orr.

Regardless of how tough Carkner is, if this is true, then he's not too sharp. After getting flash ko'd, the last thing he should be doing is going at it again and risking some sort of serious issue.

They play again...no point in trying to be a hero and risking your career. Orr is probably one of the hardest punchers since Kocur and can do serious damage.

As for my previous comment, just responding in kind.

Orr is one of many heavyweights in the league.

Let's not get carried away.

If Carkner thinks he can go again, he can.

Orr is one of the top heavyweights in the league (as is Carkner) but has done more damage to other players over the years than most other heavyweights.

I just think that if you've had the result Carkner had in this fight, there is no good reason to rush back in and risk serious injury. Especially when he plays in Ottawa's top 6.

That was ****ing awesome. Particularly after all the Ottawa boys were talking about how Carkner is as good (or better) at fighting as Orr.

In terms of knockouts, this last one was the best of the three... followed by Orr's first knockout... and then distantly followed by Carkner's knockout.

If you get flash KO'd like that you shouldn't be going again in the same game, especially with one of the hardest hitters in the game. There will be many more chances to fight Orr. Both are tough as nails.

seems to me that they both contribute very little. but orr does do very good on the forecheck... AND he OWNS carkner.

Homer alert. The first fight over the second? Give me a break. Carkner didn't miss a shift, whereas in the second one Orr left the game and couldn't fight for over a month. No contest. This one is easily number one though, can't believe Carkner's okay.

Uh, you know Carkner's a defenseman right? He doesn't contribute "very little", he's currently in our top-4 for god's sake.

It's a 2 to 1 series bud. If Orr takes the next two (I'm predicting they'll fight in the last two games), then you can say that. Now, it just looks silly (unless you're saying he owned him in this fight, in which case that would be an understatement).

It's a great rivalry between two of the best heavies in the game. Two guys who fight wide-open, with knockout power, so most fights will end in a TKO. Sucks that the dumb homers are ruining it.

Saw the replay, and I agree Carkner got wooped

I thought when he fell down he just slipped but it's apparent he was stunned from the blow. My bad.

this is the best post i have ever seen on here.
Saying Carkner contributes very little is an ignorant comment. Guy has been great for us all year, is great to use on the PK, makes very smart passes out of his own zone, and has leadership qualities, helping direct people where they should be on the ice.

To say Carkner contributes very little is just flat out 100% WRONG. He brings a different side and edge to our team.

That's actually a pretty stupid thing to do. When you've had your brain scrambled, you're really the LAST person who should be making such a decision.
