He had a good game, for sure. But that jump that you saw, where he blazes by people and is seemingly all over the offensive zone is usually there. He is always one of our hardest workers. It's just that his shot has seemed to desert him. He's simply not putting the puck in the net. Effort is never a question with Svatos, but he just can't score like he used to. I think unless the Avs get at minimum a 3rd rounder, they may as well hang on to him for insurance for the playoff stretch. If he regains his form, great, if not, he's gone at the end of the year and we miss out on a 4th round pick or lower. No biggie.

What kind of returns would you be wanting for Liles/Svatos package?

Colorado

Svatos
JM Liles

Ottawa

Alexander Picard
Brian Lee
Jonathan Cheechoo
SJ's 2nd

??

Svatos would look good in a Sens jersey.

Wolski and Liles too

Would Svatos for Cheechoo and Lee work out for both sides?

Has Brian Lee fallen that far?

Avalanche GM Greg Sherman would do that deal in a second, even though it means taking on Cheechoo.

Its not that he is fallen, he just needs to move on. Anyway that deal doesn't work salary wise for Ottawa

Svatos is not really what the Devils need. Our defence has been sloppy the last few games, we need a defensive defenceman with a good breakout pass.

svatos has lots of positives in his corner. he works hard, he plays physically larger than his frame, he is not afraid to go into corners or work the boards, and he has a solid skill-set

i think, atleast from watching him for years, is that he seems to be the type of guy that benefits when he gains chemistry with someone, and can feed back and forth with that player - like give and gos, odd man rushes, down low pick and rolls. he also excels when he's the guy being looked for.

the problem though as well, is that it's tough with the numbers games right now in colorado. you have two offensive lines working very well together, therefore he gets bumped to the third, but also loses a little bit of skill with his linemates. i think he'd be perfect with duchene and galiardi, but yip has taken that spot essentially, and it's not like you can just pull him off that line either while he's clicking so well

it's a ****** situation, i like the guy, and have watched/followed him ever since kootenay. he's a fun player to watch because he plays bigger than he is and has some exciting puck skills and speed

i hope he can turn it around in colorado offensively, imo colorado could develop into one of those teams that can roll three offensive lines and then use their fourth line as the checking/cycle line. hopefully svatos can become a part of that.

regarding your question mark, i was referring to that other poster and his comment about 'moving on' as an easy answer to give, as he probably couldn't give anything better.

i concede on the playing with duchene part, i did not know that. i probably didn't see any avs games the first quarter or so, i was unaware of any combos that sacco used at the beginning.

question then, has he had any decently consistent time playing with stastny this year?

Well Svatos is 5'9, 185..Duchene is 5'11 200..Duchene may end up 6'0 210 when he's filled out, and he's crazy strong...I just don't think their size is comparable at all, nor do I think Duchene can be labelled as "small"..Average maybe.

Yup, Svatos to get in with Corey would be a great fit. Ottawa is looking for 1 more offense style player and there would be very little asset to give up (Mid-Round Pick and some sort of prospect like Zubov who has no real value left with the team).

I'd be very happy to see that trade take place and I'm sure that even if he isn't worth much you'd still like to move a player like Svatos out of Conference.

He has played a lot with Duchene and played a bit with Stastny as well.

Don't know how accurate this site is but it shows the lines he has been on...

http://www.dobberhockey.com/frozenpo...ations&sent=go

As you can see, they have tried him and Duchene a lot while mixing up the other winger on that line and they did nothing.

They also tried him with Stastny and Wolski and he couldn't produce with them either.

Svatos hasn't been the same since the ACL injury. Maybe a change could get him going again, maybe not. As an Avs fan, I hope they get rid of him and I would be very happy with a 4th or 5th round pick.

I don't think Murray is looking at him with Shannon already on the team.

A lot of people throw Cheechoo under the bus but even though he doesn't score,he is still a good grinder . Svatos if he doesn't bring scoring he's useless.

Lee is a good, mostly non-physical defender who moves the puck smartly up ice. His shot is weak and he's rarely aggressive enough in any facet of his game to stand out, which is a big problem for him in Ottawa. If we want fairly safe, defensive counter-attacking play... we have Kuba and Phillips on the left side (Lee's a right D). That's why Volchenkov (physical/shot-blocking) and Karlsson (skating, puckhandling, PPQB) are playing with those guys to add other dynamics to those pairings. His physical and offensive games can be better than he typically shows, but seems to need constant prodding to bring more every night.

Atm, I think he's closing in on potential as a solid, unspectacular, minute-eating #4/5, 2nd unit special teams player.
