Again, I got BLASTED for saying the Hawks almost have to buy out Huet for him to not be here in 2010-11... and now everyone seems to be seeing the light. We're stuck w/ Huet's contract.

There are, in my mind, two ways the Hawks move Huet at the deadline, and they're both pretty much the same situation.

Nashville and Montreal both have two serviceable young netminders that will both become free agents this summer. Odds are that both teams will negotiate like crazy over the Olympic break to sign one of them, and then look to slap the other on the trade market. The best case scenario for the Hawks is that one of the two teams strikes out with both of their goalies and looks to get someone in-house before the end of the season to bank against losing both.

hey guys. i posted this on the trade proposals board...but wanted to see what you guys think. it's a three way trade with you guys, dallas, and philly. it took me a while to think up, and make it work cap-wise (not sure why i spent time doign it since im a leafs fan, but boredom i suppose)...anyways, what do you think?

to CHI:
Marty Turco

to PHI:
Cristobal Huet
Matt Niskanen
Jack Skille

to DAL:
Scott Hartnell
Matt Carle

breakdown:

DAL moves: turco & niskanen for hartnell and carle. ($6.55mil out, $7.638mil in)
PHI moves: hartnell & carle for huet, niskanen & skille. ($7.638mil out, $7.325mil in)
CHI moves: huet & skille for turco. ($6.475mil out, $5.7mil in)

why it works...

PHILLY
- gets their #1 goalie. pricy contract but he has great numbers this season.
- niskanen replaces carle on the back end.
- skille is a power forward prospect, likely NHL ready. similar to the player they gave up in hartnell.
- they save approx. $300k against the cap.

DALLAS
- gets rid of turco, allowing lehtonen to step in.
- carle replaces niskanen on the back end.
- add a solid veteran power forward in hartnell.

CHICAGO
- saves cap space not only this season ($700k), but next season as well ($5+mil).
- don't lose any goaltending for their cup run.
- don't lose any core players for their cup run.

thoughts?

thoughts?
I think the Blackhawks would do it. However, I don't see the Flyers being interested. I think they already have Emery locked up for a while(could be wrong), and they love Hartnell.

I'd do this deal without any second of a doubt.

and I think there will be any Team to take on Huet.

Huet + 1st??? and there should be a finder. Like Ottawa. Only Prob would be we have to take Cheechoo or something

Huet + 1st for Cheechoo + 3rd we add 3 (untradeable) Mio for 5.6 (untradeable) Mio

Saves us 2.6 and eating Cheechoo's contract (or buyout him) isn't that bad as it would be with Huet

As much as I don't feel the best with Huet in goal. There isn't much available, that would be enough of an upgrade, to justify trading Huet and other assets to get.

Really the only upgrades would be Vokoun and Rolosson (As long as Huet goes bye bye)

Emery was signed for one season so he is an UFA at seasons end. Hartnell is struggling this season so the Flyers could have some interest in this proposal.

The only issue I see as a neutral is I think they would want Turco over Huet as it gives them an option of further evaluating their goalie situation in the offseason. In this case Philly doesn't need to deal with Chicago at all. Also Hartnell has a NTC which would need to be waived.
