Not like the Oilers have other options, but it is still nice to see they have their priorities straight.

Hey Robin, if you are reading, Pouliot doesn't have to be tendered an offer. He has one more year. There is a two year window to sign CHL players, and Pouliot was drafted last year.

Nice. Out of curiousity, what's the deal with JDD though, and why does he have to be signed this year?

For the same reason as above. As a 2002 draft pick we have two years to sign him to retain his rights or he can go back into the draft.(Which is the reason we have Stoll...and conversely not Lombardi.)

slats,

you don't have to sign players within 1 year but you do need to make a contract offer to maintain their rights. the oil made an offer to deslauriers a year ago which was rejected to control his rights and now they have until this years draft to get him signed to a contract. they have to decide by this years draft whether to make offers to last years picks although they have a year to get those players signed.

Good to hear.. I was getting a little worried after hearing that JDD might be looking for a huge contract. We really can't afford to lose our only decent goaltending prospect outside Morrison.
