Artem Anisimov

is soft

he has such a high upside but it is so frustrating watching him play. He consistently avoids contact with the other team, especially defensemen while on the "forecheck"

He never takes the body, like never ever.

I blame the coach

how about you ?

Blame the coach for Artem Anisimov being soft?

Ridiculous.

Mehh doesnt worry me if he's soft. What worries me is that he tends to keep his head down. Seen get cleaned up at least twice already this season.

I blame his weight. The guy weighs less than 200 pounds and is 6' 4" or something. Give him a couple of years to fill out. Now, he'd just bounce of people anyway.

He's timid.

Doesn't play with any fire. Well.. He might.. But I don't see it... I'm hoping Avery's personality rubs off on him a little, because he does play too docile.

Anisimov will only be successful if he is a power forward because he's not fast enough to be a finesse guy. That being said, he is super young. We desperately need to be patient with some of these young players. If you look at the point totals of some of the elite players, many of them struggled in the early goings.

I'm not saying Anisimov will be an elite player, but there is absolutely no reason at all to get impatient with him just yet, we really don't want to make them same mistakes we have made so many times before with rushing young players or giving up on them etc. Also, I'm not saying the management is doing this, but as fans, we need to just relax here.

I'm not worried yet. I love the way he skates, has a good frame to build size onto, and has shown glimpses of some serious offensive potential. It's going to take a while for him to get adjusted but I'm excited to see him get better every year. Though I project him to do be a good second line center, he has the tools to be a legit 1st line center.

I think his personality and edge will show more when he learns better English and gains more on-ice experience. He's only been a professional hockey player in North America for a year and a half.

21 years old. Needs time to grow into his frame, he will be fine. The skating is normally the hardest thing for a player his size to learn and his is very good already.

I don't think he's soft, he just doesn't really hit. He uses his body pretty well IMO and if he fills out he'll be that much better

Is it really necessary to eat our young?

Kid's young, still growing (physically) and still learning the game. Given all of that, Arty is doing just fine.

He's gonna put on weight in the offseason and have a breakout season next year. He's so young.

His ceiling and potential is more than enough to merit the patience of this organization's fans. Kid is 21?... and barely into his pro career. I am confident he will be nothing short of excellent for this franchise if he is not given up on.

Same fanbase that has people proposing we trade our franchise stud goaltender. Seriously, people...

Time and time again, Rangers' fans have cried that we don't play the kids... here we are, playing the kids... typical reaction, haha. It's a joke.

I may be more anti-Tortorella than anyone else on the boards and I'll be the first to blame him for something... but not this.

He's a kid, man. The grind of the season wears kids down in their first year.
