I agree but I dont see Orr as the solution. The guy isnt very good. He is a great fighter, probably one of, if not the, nest fighter in the game, but he brings very little else. His skating isnt good enough to really be a problem on the forecheck. That is why I mentioned someone like Rupp or Boogard as the future of the role because they can skate and bring something other than just fighting which is needed in a speed game.

If you have one of the best players at what they do...then you hold onto that chip...you don't let them walk away...

When Carcillo played the Rangers last year...he never took liberaties..because he knew Orr would come looking for him.

This year...no fear...beats up Gabby.

The problem lies in spending valuable cap space on an enforcer(s) when you have a soft defense and no secondary scoring.

i.e. - The NYR having Brashear/Voros for 2.5M is ridiculous.

Had we not been throwing away 7M on Redden... 5M or Rozi and 7M on Drury... those other problems aren't magnified.

With this roster 2.5M is VALUABLE CAP SPACE better untilized on somthing else.

Lol!!!

All kidding aside his coment would probably hold true on skates. Off skates how do you know if the guy you are posting on top of trains MMA or realistically what ex or current player posts on this site?

An example is another site I post on, and I have seen Dagoon on also has had some fierce hombres post messages on in the past. Krystoff Oliwa for example was one of them. I'd put that guy up agaisnt Voros in a heartbeat.

Fighting on the ice is actually very different from fighting off the ice.

I honestly don't think brashear would be that good of a fighter off the ice other then the fact that he can probably take more punches to the face then the average person. You can't hug a guy in a fight on pavement, and you use both hands to punch.

Granted, most people haven't been in a serious fight period, and would probably be down on the ground after one good punch.

Good points and trust me most fights in real life you can't hug. I have been in a few in my line of work. But Donald is no small guy and he is jacked

Voros has improved his fighting this year, and his overall play. I remember the Avery - Boyle - Voros line having a great forecheck.

I have been in hundreds of real fights. Literally. Off ice. Against giants, vikings, kung fugees, stilleto flashing hombres, bouncers, drug addicts, wisecracks, military, police, gangbangers, hillbillies, whatever - you name it. Maybe 20 on the ice as well. Lost maybe 5 or 6 of them, but lost my last two against 4 or 5 guys getting real banged up around 5 years ago. Now I walk away. Lover - not a fighter anymore.

Fighting on ice is an entirely different game. Totally different. I could go on here, but hockeyfighters are good at what they do on the ice in their element. Off the ice there are many people much more scary or dangerous...

i love fighting in the game(we need to prtotect our stars)...we need a heavyweight..is boogard available?....I miss orr especially when i see him on the tube here in toronto every game, can't stand the leafs but i watch just to see orr in action...after this brashear failed signing by slats i miss him more.

By the way, in tonight's game against SJ, Jody Shelley KO'd Orr...as you guys know orr has no defence just offence and tonight he was out for a sec on the way down. Pretty scary stuff considering the punch he took. But orr will bounce back

Voros on the other hand would only beat 44% as he would fall down and the pile would crush him
His sole purpose on the team was to fight and be an answer if someone messed with our star players. Instead he collects $1.4 mil a year to sit in the press box? Considering the price of tickets, I think our anger and displeasure is very well justified, regardless of how we'd fair in a fight with him. We aren't making a mil+ a year to sit around on his dime, it's the other way around. And I stayed on the defense of Brash as long as I could, but it's reached the point of no return for me.

And in case you were curious I've played hockey and continue to play, and I've been in hockey fights before. Ones that aren't nearly as pre-determinded and are in my mind the much more exciting hockey fights, that stem from big hits or post-whistle scrums. Not the sideshow tap someone's shin before the first faceoff of the game non-sense.

It's not safe to assume this considering Orr rarely went looking for the player that actually took liberties with our players but the teams heavyweight or the closest thing to it.

It's an odd thing to say, but Orr played with far too much respect for the other team and the code against our division rivals. It's one thing to not be the instigator or the one to draw first blood, but you know that if Orr was on the team when Gaborik got in the fight with Carcillo Orr probably would've faught someone else and left Carcillo for Avery, Voros, etc.

Abso-****ing-lutely. Was a young kid at the time, but it was the first year I really got into watching hockey. Learned to skate 2 years before because of the Rangers.

I own a Joey Kocur game worn jersey from the 92/93 season.

It's only one example but I remember Orr with a high hit to Ovechkin after caps players were taking liberties with Jagr. Orr has more heart and loyalty to his team than most. I do miss him. He wasn't a liability under Renney. Apparently Torts and Sather thought Brashear would be better. Hindsight is 20/20 but damn what a mistake.

Another way to know you've won: when the other guy makes a post about "knowing how you won the argument" because he cares that much about "winning an argument" on the internet.

Let's all get along and direct our hate where it belongs: at Donald Brashear and Wade Redden

We should definitely trade Brashear if we can. Getting him off of the books would be really good for us. And he isn't doing anything other than practicing w the team.

Orr got dropped yes but it Knock down not ko. He got right back up and was fine. A KO is a little harsher. His wide up style is catching up to him this season for sure. Let's get back on track with the thread. This is a trade rumor Rangers need a defensemen and Panthers need a tough guy hmmmmm

From Eklund (who is usually wrong) ....

Quote:
* The Rangers and Panthers are talking and it sounds like a mega deal. Right now the rumor isn't attached to any specific names, but sources are only saying "surprising names for both teams," and "A basic re-shuffle the deck deal." I could have names by 5pm if one source gets back to me.
