NBA league pass TV early bird 179.

This is the best value of all the sports, cause they also give you the online and mobile devices for 1 price.

I wish the others did.

I'm excited for this year and the lock out in the NHL is helping. Usually I focus more on the Flyers but this year it seems like it will be all Sixers.

i wonder if the sixers game will be ppd. I mean not many will be in the state of mind to go tomorrow. also alot of people will have trouble getting there.

sixers next game wouldnt be until sunday in NY.

so i wonder if the nuggets made it to town?

CSN is showing is opening night commericals.

also CSN has basically been simulcasting NBC 10.

Speak for yourself, this has been one of the most anticipated seasons for the sixers since the AI years. As a basketball fan im thrilled that the sixers are actual contenders this year.

You know, i used to like basketball a lot when i was younger. But for some reason, i haven't been able to watch it the last 4 or 5 years of my life. It just bores me.

But maybe this whole contender thing may help. I did enjoy the playoff run last year.

But the sport itself is what i don't dig.

So why would you watch it over hockey this year then?

Opening night!

It's weird to feel optimistic and excited about a Sixers season. But I like it

I haven't watched the NBA regularly since I was a pup in the mid-1990s. Tuned in for the finals now and then, but rarely watched the Sixers.

Anyone care to give me a primer? I know about the acquisition / injury of Bynum. What else should a newbie watch for?

So i read Bynum is injured, any idea when he's supposed to come back? Maybe having a dominant player will help me get into the season a little bit.

I am watching tonight because i always thought Iggy was awesome, and obviously his first game back.

Nice resolve down the stretch in a less than well executed game. Hawes was good on both ends.

Turner does seem to be a bust....

Nice game by Hawes...blocks, rebounds, scoring...etc.

Equally nice team resolve down the stretch.

I don't follow the NBA too closely, but isn't it too early to call Turner a bust?

Yeah it is too early but he sure hasn't looked like a #2 pick.

A little early, but I don't think he'll ever be the scorer they thought he was going to be. He'll still be a productive player though. He can do a little bit of everything which is valuable. The 2010 draft wasn't that great anyway. The only guy you can make a case for is Demarcus Cousins who seemed like he was in the running for the #2 pick but people questioned his character (and still do).

I said it before Holiday's going to have a big year. Apparently he just signed an extension 4 years $41 million. Ty Lawson was the pick after Holiday in 09 and he just signed a 4 yr $48 million deal. In comparison, this is a really good deal. Holiday is 3 years younger.

Yes and no....I've seen his type before and he is not inspiring a whole lot of confidence...

Would it be safe to say that Turner is similar to JvR in that both draft classes were weak overall and if these players were taken a little later in the draft they wouldn't be considered potential busts?

overall we won, thats big i cant tell you how many games sixers blew in 4th last 2 years, especially collins first season.

hawes yes did well, also hit a 3 which was suprise.

my biggest question or concern is if anyone saw the first qtr, they at times looked very good, but then they get into this oh were good we can do anything and then made some very bad turnovers, horrible shot choices and im like ok here are the usual sixers.

But it's game 1, team trying to get chemistry and a feel. I think doug will clean alot of the bad stuff up a bit, and will see how they do sunday and monday with a home and home vs the NYK. Sunday actually is a 12pm start @ MSG on CSN.

Also I got NBA LP i watched a few other games and flipped around during halftime and after game was over. This of all the sports packages is the only one that gives you the TV, online, and mobile for 1 price.

I know it is the first game of the year, but they just held the highest scoring team in the league last year to 75 points. I think this team without Bynum is going to have problems scoring but they will be in just about every game with the way they defend.

I actually ended up missing the game, but looks like there's cause for optimism.

Question: If Hawes continues to play as good as people are saying... How much of an upgrade is Bynum?

I know little of the NBA, but from what I remember of his college years, doesn't Hawes struggle a bit defensively?

It seems to me that they bring different sets of offensive skills, and perhaps could play together at the 4/5 with a bit of work. Defensively, I think Bynum is probably a clear level above, no?
