Apparently he is one of the top prospects for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and is Alexander Ovechkin's cousin. The last I heard is he plays for Spartac in Russia? Anyone with any other information on Leonid would be much appreciated.
This season he played weak. He was not summoned to Russia's U16 national team.
Scored only 12 (6+6) points. But I don't know exactly how many matches he played. Approximately 20-22. Best scorer of the team have 25 points. The best in the league 38 points.
I can recall guys like Brett Lindros and Fedor Fedorov, who were all but their brother's skills. so it's not always that the talent stays within family
and if the above is not enough... there's always Rob Niedermayer

I dont think Rob Niedermayer is piece of crap, he played in more than 1000 NHL games. Only his role in game and team is underrated.
You can never predict how good is "another" guy from family.
There are Stastny Brotherhs, Staal brothers, Hull brohters, Sutters, Bures, Kapanen brohters, Koivu brothers...
And there are guys like Fedor Fedorov, Bondra´s older brother etc...
Good example is Marian Hossa - first class NHL star and Marcel Hossa - never played in NHL big role but now is leading scorer in KHL...
I hate when people bring up names like Marcel Hossa and Fedor Fedorov, because they actually became professional hockey players, although not good as their brothers. You always forget that there are thousands of brothers of NHL players, who never became anything in hockey. At least guys guys like Steve Kariya, Marcel Hossa etc. had professional hockey careers.

Yeah, because Kimmo Kapanen became a huge NHL superstar
Sami & Nikko are not brothers? Both played for finnish national team.. My foult.
Still.. you dont understand my point. I argue that players like Hossa dont play NHL but they are very good players. Marcel Hossa is sure more skilled player than Jocelyn Lemiuex (younger brother of Claude) which played in 600 NHL games.
I get what you mean about not being able to judge the abilities or relative by their relatives. I was just pointing out that there are tons of brothers of even the most talented players who didn't even become minor leaguers. We have never even heard of them because they didn't become anything in the hockey world. If one family is able to produce more that one professional hockey player, you can clearly say that the family has some great genes. Fedor Fedorov deserves more respect DAMMIT!

I think it's unfair to put Brett Lindros on this list, simply because he was in the NHL before concussions forced him to retire at a young age.
While his totals didn't show as much, I think he had the potential to be a 20-goal, physical brute. No, he didn't have big brother Eric's pure ability. But he was every bit as physically dominant (in terms of hitting, driving the net, fighting, etc.) as Eric, and had enough raw skills to put in 15 to 20 goals a year to go along with his physicality.
Haha, wow. That's amazing, I never realized what a great pool of younger brothers the Avs were gathering. Maybe Phoenix should trade Jared Staal's rights to Colorado, we would no longer have to hear how he is the "other brother".
I actually think that younger brothers often become better. Younger brother always needs to fight his hardest, while the older can just float around and still beat the kid brother. Little brothers are therefore more hungry to compete, which will become a huge factor when they grow older.
Add Miikka Kiprusoff to the better younger brothers
Also what is possibly the best younger brother of an NHL plaer: Mario Lemieux. Mario had more points in several seasons than Alain had in his 119 NHL career (72 points).

Thats the way I always saw it. They also tend to learn from their older brothers.
