UFA suggestion - Todd Simpson

How about Todd Simpson? He's a UFA out of Ottawa. As the #6 guy, I think he would provide some needed grit on the blueline. He's a respectable defenseman. Even though he's tough, he is not stupid and should not be considered a goon. I'm looking at this from a needs/chemistry perspective and I see that need.

...

Good call dude. I wouldn't mind having him at all.

Drop McGillis. Drop O'Donnell. Pick up Simpson... And bring in Girard, Jonsson and/or Jurcina.

i don't see simpson as an upgrade on o'donnell...i think they are both just as tough, but simpson is a more 'willing combatant', if you may. and simpson may have reigned himself in while in ottawa, but from what i watched of him in phoenix and anaheim, stupid penalties was part of his game.

I would take him in a second as a 6th or 7the Dmen, it would also kill the need of a 4th line good v reallys good teams w/ Depth like Det,ottawa ect

Klemm and Simpson are great ideas since they'd probably both come somewhat cheap and almost certainly willing to leave their current teams for a shot at more playing time. For a little bit more dough I like Jaroslav Modry and/or Jassen Cullimore to replace 2 of the Gill/O'D/McGillis trio.

You're probably rigth, dude... I just was very dissapointed with O'Donnell's play during this post-season, and it wouldn't hurt me much to see him go... I think Simpson is a cheaper option, who could be just as good, if not better if he cools down on the dumb penalties.
