Both would be cool. I love the All Star skills challenge! Also I would love to boo Gary Bettman.

I wouldn't mind doing one or both. As much as the ASG is a joke, it would be pretty cool to see live I think as far as the skills competition.

Oh and also, the picture in that article is clutch. I'm thinking avatar. Gotta love Rocky hahaha.

I've been to both an ASG (and skills competition, though not as "polished" as it is now) and a draft and IMO the draft is much more fun to go to. It's very informal, there are all kinds of former & current players milling around, plus all the potential draftees and their families, very cool event to attend live.

I went to the ASG when it was here in 92.

Probably the coolest part of the whole thing was that they wanted to do a run through of the Skills Competition, testing out the equipment, etc. etc.

They invited the 40 best local high school hockey players to the Spectrum a few nights prior to the skills competition. When you got there, you were told which all-star you were representing. Then you were "him" for the night, everything from the introductions, to competing in whatever skills that player was going to perform in. Very, very cool.

That is very cool. I'm guessing you were involved - who were you for the evening?

I can't se them giving us the draft, simply because....well, could you imagine the crowd when Bettman gets to the podium? They'll eat him alive

Again, not unlike what Bettman faces at the draft.

I was J.R. .... he was a Blackhawk at that point.

I ended up doing the fastest skater, and the breakaway relay. I was hoping to get to do the accuracy shooting, but the whole thing was a lot of fun.

Right, that'll work.
I'd drive to Philadelphia just to see that in itself.

Okay, that just made it even cooler, John! What a great memory for you!

They've had recent drafts in Canada where Bettman was booed heavily. He doesn't care.
