Ellis better be under the weather or banged up...there is no reason for him to be out over those 2. absurd.

Ellis historically plays well against Boston too...wtf

Agreed. Our record when:

Matt Ellis plays: 30-14-5
Ellis doesn't play: 2-4-2

Mair plays: 23-16-5
Mair doesn't play: 9-2-2

Gee Lindy, which player seems to contribute more to the team's success? And, oh by the way, we tried waiving Mair for nothing this season. No clue why he's in the lineup. Terrible.

Right, because you sure wouldn't want anyone to steal any of those ****ing awesome powerplay setups you've put on the ice over the last 4 years, you ****ing nimrod. And yes, I know he's trying to be funny.

WAIT A SECOND...

If Montador is out with an injury, Kennedy would be taking his spot on the 4th line. Won't the lineup be:

Hecht-Connolly-Pommer
Vanek-Roy-Stafford
Mac-Gaustad-Grier
Ellis-Kennedy-Mair
x Kaleta

Tallinder-Myers
Lydman-Sekera
Butler-Rivet
x Montador, Paetsch

So doesn't that put Ellis in the lineup?

As for practice, Steve Montador and Patrick Kaleta are missing. Montador was injured during a fight Saturday in Columbus. (Post-practice update: Ruff said Montador might take the morning skate Tuesday. The defenseman injured his hip just before the fight and not during the actual battle with Jared Boll).

No changes on the forward lines either. It's still Hecht-Connolly-Pominville, Vanek-Roy-Stafford, Grier-Kennedy-MacArthur and Mair-Gaustad-Ellis. D pairs are Myers-Tallinder, Butler-Rivet (who got back together for a good chunk of Saturday) and Lydman-Sekera.

Who would that be? I ask because posters have called out at least half the roster. So its inevitable that someone has to play that fits this description.

I can reply that I'm on the kick Roy out ASAP bandwagon. He isn't really getting it done, except the one game in which he got called out before the game.

Any game except that and he has been as useless as a sand in a desert.

Meaningles to just check the stats. The performance that Roy is putting up is pathetic. Despite the points.

He hasn't been playing that bad, at least from what I've seen. Sure he coughs up the puck a lot, and misses a lot of shots on beautiful passes to him, which really annoys me. But, he's been pretty responsible defensively, and hasn't really done anything too dumb. He just needs a few bounces to go his way to build his confidence. We all know the kind of player Roy can be when he has his swagger going.

I'd say split Roy and Stafford up. Those two guys seem to be the most inconsistent forwards on our team. When they're on, they can tear it up offensively. But the problem is that they don't have consistent offensive threats to play on their line.

Montador, Kennedy, Mair. All lunchpail guys who lost the heart along the way and who are still getting plugged in the lineup for no reason.

I don't think any of those guys lost their heart. Certainly their effectiveness (to varying degrees) but not their heart.

Kennedy has been struggling badly in recent weeks but he is a rookie and as such will have ups and downs. They can't just give up on him because of it. He was big part of their early success centering the 3rd line. They need to help him work out his way out of it for later in the year and the playoffs.

I don't think they lost their heart.

Mair is still all heart, but he simply doesn't have the physical tools to get the job done anymore. I thought he played quite well after being waived. He had good jump, good energy, and he was hitting. His fight with Prust with Calgary in town stands out in my head as "Old Adam Mair." Since then, he's slowed down considerably. I just don't think his body is capable of playing the style he needs to play to stay in this league.

Montador, too, might be fatigued, but I just don't think he's mentally with it at this point. He had some bad nights, and now he's over-committing to every play.

Kennedy falls into much the same category. The desire is there, but his mental demons are holding him back now. He's a rookie who entered a rut and has no idea how to climb back out. He simply lacks the experience to brush off his recent play and get back at it.

Well, that's at least some good news. And Montador not being available is just about as good.

Hopefully Lydman and Sekera are able to find a rhythm, assuming they get paired tonight.

I'm glad Boston snapped their 10 game winless streak before playing the Sabres. Now at least we have a chance to win this one as opposed to the guarenteed loss to the Bruins if they came in winless in 11.

I think the Sabres as a team step it up defensively tonight. Miller does his thing and Buffalo picks up the win.
