Since when has a pro athlete recently had a serious infection resulting from a cut? They have doctors and trainers checking up on it EVERY DAY, and probably in between periods as well during the game.
Think again. With the bacteria in hockey equipment an infection can go septic very quickly. In recent years one player was in jeopardy of losing a foot and one a hand. I obviously don't think this will happen here, just due to the location of the injury, but those other instances weren't even the result of cuts.
Damn this sucks. I'm a fan of Gaborik's, and I want this guy to play in the Olympics. I hate when elite players are left off the roster due to injuries even though there's nothing anyone can do about it. I want to see the world's best compete, and I feel like we've been somehow deprived of a real privilege. Maybe that's a bit selfish of me, but I do hope he's okay.

No worries man....he's just day to day...likely miss a game or 2. He should be good to go for the Olympics in your hometown(assuming your from your Van).
