The airfare is probably the only part of the package that is close to being a good deal. I've never been a fan of package trips like that anyway, but I guess they are good for people who don't want the stress of planning things out themselves or might be scared being in a foreign country (hence the AAA "escort" lol).

I've seen roundtrip airfare for around $850, just looked again and got $868. If they were chartering a flight, that would be one thing, but I would be beyond shocked if that were the case.

man, massively overpriced. I guarantee that I could make the trip, stay in a nice hostel, take in all the games and actually SEE the real city rather then just a guided tour for less then 3/4ths that price. About the only thing that wouldn't really have an equivalent is the meal with the Canes. Hardly with the 600+ dollar difference it would take.

I'm actually not surprised at the price. I was planning a package of my own, and it was coming out to $2200. I'll be more than happy to pay the extra $500 to have everything planned for me.

The only thing i'm pissed about is them only have 50 packages. I know atleast 5 couples who want to go so there's 10 right there. You'd think they would have more.

I have 2 messages and an email to AAA. Hopefully I can get my package settled tomorrow.

ETA: Columbus released their package to Stockholm and its a good $1200 more. Pretty much the same exact thing the the Canes are doing.

My family is in, secured our reservations for one of the travel packages yesterday. As some have mentioned previously, worth it to me not to have to hassle with the effort of planning this out myself.

Also FYI, we've started a Facebook group for folks who are interested in attending or discussing the event. Would love to have more folks participate, especially if there are people living in Finland or surrounding areas who are planning to attend the game.

I don't know what tickets to NHL games usually cost but I think this was ****ing expensive... 169 euros per ticket! And I swore last summer after my wife made me go to Madonna concert that I'm never gonna pay over 100 euros for a single event ever again. But what the hell, got the tickets anyway! It's a once in a lifetime thing to see two of my favourite teams play each other in Finland. So, see you there

•Roundtrip transportation to both games from hotel to Hartwall Arena = i'm sure they have cabs

basically, no thanks on the official package.
Just checked Travelocity... You can get airfare and stay at the same hotel for $1213 a person... AAA want almost $1100 WITHOUT airfare for the above and $2700 with?

Going through AAA, you aren't just paying for airfare and hotel. You are paying for the extras in the package: shuttle service, tour, VIP lunch, etc.

I'm thinking I can replace all the little extras for MUCH less than $1500 a person

Looks like we could possibly be playing some more games in Europe. The NHL announced that 2 of the 6 teams opening their seasons there will play exhibition games against KHL teams. They haven't announced which of the NHL teams are going but since we're starting in Finland we're in the mix.

JR announced that the Canes would play an exhibition game in St. Petersburg, so I'd assume they were one of them

I just bought a 100eur ticket to the friday game though I'm a Ducks fan...but these 2 teams with lots of Finns isn't that bad I just hope it will be a physical game with emotions...last games here Blackhawks/Panthers were little bit boring.
