Hurricanes vs. Mew Cats - 7 PM

There was no GDT so I had nowhere to ask for a link. How about it?

All the links I've found so far are playing the wrong games.

The atdhe link is running now, but it's for IE and sopcast.

You have to open it in IE and have Sopcast downloaded though

It's been a slow first, not missing much. Hey, what do you know. As soon as I say that Goertzen gets into a fight. Pretty good tilt, but Allen got the best of him.

Don't really know much about Goertzen but I hope he's not a fighter because he was horrible there

I see Gleason fought Campbell. That couldn't have ended well for Greg.

Damn I hope Gleason is ok. Knowing him he'll be back out there, at least this time it was a deflection and not a slapshot...

Jokinen scores, from Staal and Cullen. Jussi is now our leading goal scorer.

2nd leading scorer from Finland... idiots.

Kaiton says that penalty wasn't a penalty.

Jokinen and Staal have crazy chemistry. Cole who?

Ballard low bridged Staal on the way by because he was out of position. It wasn't your traditional tripping call because Staal didn't go down, but there was contact below the knee by Ballard. He was beaten through by Staal and lowered his center of gravity and attempted an open ice hip check. You're going to get called on that one every time. Admittedly, it looked weak.

It was more of a slash than a trip, IMO. At least that's what I would have called it. It was pretty weak but definitely impeded Staal's momentum to the net.

That was bound to happen.. Florida had tons of pressure and we couldn't clear it or gain possession of the puck

Pitkanen! 2-1!

If we get a regulation win tonight, we'd only be 6 back of Florida.

The Finns are taking over.

Good thing too, since AWard apparently screwed up a golden chance.

For those watching, what line is Ruutu on and how has he looked thus far?

Ruutu is playing with Sutter and Dwyer I want to say. He has looked a little out of rhythm thus far tonight. His puck control isn't very good and he's kind of going down easy. Not very strong on his skates right now. Not unusual for a guy just coming back from an injury and getting to game speed.

Ruutu gets a "welcome back", empty net goal. Pitkanen with a 3 point night. Cullen with a big game. These guys are looking too much like we expected at the start of the year. Too bad they started too late.

Hey. It could happen. Not likely, but we're playing well, we have an Olympics break so all our injured players can get better, and thankfully for us the middle to tail of the East is *****.

6. Montreal 60g-62pts
7. Philadelphia 57g-61pts
8. Tampa Bay 57g-61pts
===========
9. Boston 57g-59pts
10. N.Y. Rangers 59g-59pts
11. Atlanta 57g-58pts
12. Florida 59g-57pts
13. N.Y. Islanders 58g-54pts
14. Carolina 59g-51pts
15. Toronto 60g-49pts

We have way too many teams to jump to think about the playoffs. We've been playing well but it's too late. Even if by a miracle we squeaked into the playoffs, we have way too many holes and would most likely lose in the first round. It's time to go ahead with the rebuild. Deal all the UFAs/dead weight we can and focus on the future.

No way we'd lose to Washington in the first round if we got to #8.

I think I'm going to make a chart for a team's point progression game-to-game and see if I can post here just for visual observation kicks of teams 6-15 in the East.

As far as dealing UFAs/dead weight, well if they're dead weight they're not playing well now anyway. UFAs get what you can.
