The Flyers submitted an interest to the League to host the NHL Entry Draft and the NHL All-Star Game in either 2012 or 2013.
One prerequisite for hosting the draft, of course, would be actually having draft picks.

HA!!! Yeah. I guess we're not hosting the draft until 2020.

Maybe we'll be awarded some for being gracious hosts.

Peter Luukko mentioned that they'd like to host one or both events, during the PC for the Winter Classic at Fenway last summer.

"Hi and thank you to Philadelphia for hosting the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. I'm Commissioner Gary Bettman..."

Right, that'll work.

Beat me to it, MSE! Perhaps the Flyers can host the year after Bettman steps down....

But it might be fun to watch a few teams choke on thanking the Flyers and the great city of Philadelphia for their hospitality!

Steps down off the step ladder to reach his apple juice on the top shelf of the refrigerator.

I was in Columbus for the draft, they heartily booed him as well. A lot of it is a mix of fans from all over the league though.

Don't care about the draft, but the All Star game would be cool. I'd go.

That's because he took Michigan and the points.

ASG please, though I would probably go to the draft if the tickets were a decent price ($50, not $150).

Oh, and if we actually had picks ...

I'd love to go to a draft. It would be a blast. Probably a good bit cheaper than an All-Star game as well.

Sounds great, I was actually thinking about us hosting an ASG today, and here it is!

What are the chances we still chant "Crosby Sucks" during the game?

I think the draft is more fun from home personally, I'de love to see a skills competition live though.

That would be sweet. I've always wanted to go to a Draft. ASG doesn't interest me as much, and ticket prices will probably be quite large. IIRC the Draft is either free, or something like 25 bucks a ticket. I would be very interested.

I went to the ASG in 1992. It was a good experience but overall the sideshows (other events) were far more entertaining. Plus, Joe Watson told me a dirty joke and no I can't repeat it here.

I'm all for hosting the draft, but the all-star game is garbage. Given that the Flyers have never hosted the draft in 42 years, I think we got a good chance.

Especially since our personnel will be able to devote their full attention to making the event a success since, ya know, we don't actually have any picks...

I could see it now. the booing would reign down on him and some idiot would start a thread calling Flyer fans classless for booing him. Like hes never been booed before.
I went to the one in CBJ and he was booed every time he took the stage.

A friend of mine submitted his name into a "lottery" for 4 tix and won so we all got to go to CBJ. I dont think there will be much of a charge for the tix if anything.
Not sure what the distribution is or will be for non season ticket holders.
I had a blast out there in Columbus in 2007. Day 1 was alot more fun then Day 2 obviously.
