Morozov the Great

Can someone please explain to me why this guy is supposed to be so great? First, I have no idea why he is wearing the C. Second, he still avoids the corners and contact like it's the plaque. I'm sure he was wishing Marty was in net instead of Lou. How much money did this guy want to stay in NA? The Olympics should be his showcase. It's his style of hockey. Bigger rink, less physical supposedly. This guy has shown nothing in the Olympics.

Well, they are playing on NHL size ice this year.

I'd still take him back in a second for 2.5 bills.

I wouldn't. He is hilariously bad.

He isn't that good, it's just an interesting biproduct of backup quarterback syndrome people have around here.

Didn't know the ice was the same size. Maybe that's why he was and is so soft. They could make the rink twice the size and he'll still be soft. I wouldn't take him back for free. Team Canada pounded him all night. Each time he went near the boards, he looked over his shoulder. And when he did, he was crunched. And somehow, he's the captain. The leader?

He actually looked silly as the captain tonight.

But he's still a legit top 6 guy (40-55 pts) in the NHL, albeit tissue soft.

He's still light-years ahead of where Feds, Guerin, Dupuis, Cooke, Kennedy, Rupp, etc. are offensively, and would still be an upgrade over any of them.

I thought the team voted for him to be captain?

Yeah on a bigger ice surface with lower quality players and less physical play. Absolutely.

Do you really think Dupuis, Guerin, Rupp and that abortion of a player Feds are better offensive players than Morozov?

I'll take any one of those cup winners over Morozov any day of the week. We are talking about the NHL here. We've seen Morozov get stiff armed off the puck for years and his game hasn't changed one bit.

Stay in the KHL Ally.

Laugh all you want, the only reason he went back to Russia in the first place is because no teams wanted him over here. There have been other players from other countries who aren't in the NHL that played much better this Olympics (Wick, etc.) and no one's talking about them.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Marcel Hossa leads the KHL in goals so I'm assuming he's a guy you'd like to have too? Morozov is like Mogilny in his dying days: When he's not scoring he doesn't give you anything else, and he wouldn't be scoring all that much.

Yeah, I've never really understood the Morozov love either. He just looks really ordinary to me, nothing special.

I do have some good memories of him, though. He's still the only NHL'er that I've seen popping his jersey after a goal and he did it before it was the thing to do. He also absolutely owned Marty Brodeur.

I'm just playing Devil's Advocate. But if you're bringing up players who don't do anything if they're not scoring, you can't look past Guerin. What does he do if he's not scoring? He doesn't forecheck, he doesn't play physical hockey, he doesn't play solid defensive hockey, he doesn't win pucks along the boards, he barely even hustles, lol.

You still can't deny Guerin's presence in the locker room. And even with the way Guerin played the few games leading into the break, I'd still have a lot more confidence in him coming through at a big moment in a big game that I would Morozov.

Everybody on team Russia looked bad tonight. He does have some talent but no hustle. He is better off in Russia.

I want Morozov back on the Pens for two reasons.

1) Brodeur

2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v388...eature=related

For anyone who actually watched the Pens back then (which seems like a very small number of people)...a highlight like that, back then in a horrible half-decade of hockey, was kinda like a stanley cup OT winner. Sorta. Not really, but you get the idea.

I'm convinced that crest thing makes up 85% of the reason why people have wanted him back. He was one of the most maligned players of that Penguins era before that, and was a darling after.

This guy hasn't played for us or any other NHL team in over 5 years. He had his moments as Pen and showed talent when he tried but its over. He isn't coming back so we will never know how good he could have been.

I prefer this one just because of the bizarre video title and description

LOL I think you're right. Also this notion that he's "solved" Brodeur is complete nonsense. It was uncanny luck, but luck nonetheless.
