Tell me is Whitney really worth Teubert and a 2nd? Just curious, isn't like almost 50?

How about Trevor Lewis

Not projecting to be more than an energy player who could center a 4th line at this point, but he is a mid-round 1st round pick from 2006 so it gives Rutherford something to sell to the fans along with the pick they'll acquire.

I know DL really likes Whitney (he drafted him) but a 1st round pick is a high price to pay, especially with the draft in LA. I still think that pick is traded for Kovalchuk's rights at the draft by the way.

Raffi Torres, Freddie Modin, or Poni would be more affordable additions IMO

LOL at Frolov being the sticking point for Kovalchuk.

Brown? Johnson? Simmonds? Have your pick!

Frolov? NEVER CALL ME AGAIN!

That would be a hilariously epic phone call. If I was Lombardi, I would crank call Waddell and record just that and then post it and mess with all the fans...

Segal to Manch

Send Clune to Ontario, so he is close to LA

Trade 2 roster players from Kings for 1 roster player from ????

Assign Clune to LA, but he has been here all along to play against Edmonton

Bring in new player

Ya, you're right. LA is not getting Whitney, IMO he stays back East. A name will surface out of nowhere, DL keeps these things close to his vest.

Exactly. Moller and Drewiske for Whitney. Frolov for a defenseman. Clune replaces Moller, Whitney replaces Frolov.

That seems steep for Whitney, but I send that package for Ryder.

And lets take it one step further.....the timing of Segal to waivers is odd to me. The Kings need more offensive touch than they do toughness. Segal was no whimp, he took the body well and we just won 9 of the last 10 games he played in....why change things for a player like Clune?

So what if, part of the deal is to release Segal so that our trading partner can some how pick him up and we are taking on half his salary? Is that too far of a stretch?

Maybe in terms of a roster spot for right now, but nowhere close for the organization as a whole.

I think Moller was the best player available at the time of the draft but not a "DL Type".........Burke was high on Moller and is having a fire sale. Maybe Moller to TO? Is Burke back to work yet?

How Moller not DL type? Heart, grit. Only thing he lacks is size, and I think DL values heart, grit and leadership over size. Not to mention talent as well.

DL doesn't take "best player available", he takes who he wants.

Obviously. My point was when your going to play them on the bottom two lines Clune is a much better fit. Clune replaces Moller as a bottom 6 winger.

The deal for Whitney was assuredly ready to go a week or two ago... it's that 3 year term DL's balking at - for good reason. It's 3 years that the Kings would be on the hook for even if Whitney retires a month from now due to the over 35 rule in the CBA. Players who sign a multi-year contract when they are 35 or older have their entire averaged salary count against the cap in the second (or later) year of the contract, even if they are not on the active roster. It's got to be a 1 year deal - 2 max.

Yeah, but I don't think that's good enough reason to trade him.

You can take the boy out of the Euro, but you cant take the Euro out of the boy.

Look, we can argue all you want but it would just be easier for both of us to admit you are wrong....and you too riznat, so that we can all just move along here and say bye bye to Moller.

Moller's been the defacto 4th line center for a while. Assuming Whitney is acquired, who plays pivot on the 4th line?

Whitney/Kopitar/Brown
Smyth/Stoll/Simmonds
Richardson/Handzus/Parse
Ivanans/Harrold/Clune/Purcell???

That lineup sucks.
