Dustin Brown to the Pens

Highly unlikely, I know. But what would it take from the Pens? I love Browns game.

Crosby or Malkin. I know it's overpayment but when is the last time a team in a playoff position traded their 25 year old captain?

I would do Staal, a 1st, and maybe a prospect.

Same thread same opinions as the other 8 trillion Kings/Pens trade value threads. They all turn into 5 page pissing matches between the fanbases over who overvalues their players the most. The Kings and Pens dont make good trading partners.

Are you kidding? HELL NO.

Whats with the HFBoards D Brown love fest? He currently only has 2 more points than Staal with the same number of games. Staal is more versatile to the Pens and more valuable because he is a center. He is also one of the leagues best PKers. I wouldnt make this move straight up let alone adding a first round pick.

Yes he does!
I think both players are too important to their respected teams right now. I don't understand why Penguins fans want to trade Staal so much. Jordan's upside is higher than Brown's in my opinion, i'd rather the Pens keep him for the long haul.

I stated the truth. No one on the Pens with exception of Malkin and Crosby will get Brown out of LA.

It would start with Staal and likely also take Letang and more given that the Kings aren't interested whatsoever in trading their captain on an excellent contract. If you want a core, untouchable player on another team, you are going to have to grossly overpay to pry them away nearly 100% of the time. I would say Staal + Letang + 1st or Mid or higher prospect. It is a Kovalchuk rental price, but you are asking for another team's 25 year old core captain out of no where prior to their franchise's first playoff berth in nearly a decade.

Who doesn't love Brown's game? It would take much more than the Penguins would be willing to part with.

And, at this time, I ask both fan bases to back away slowly. Nothing to see here....

I doubt that. Something the Pens are not willing to pay, definitely, but Dustin Brown is not worth a generational talent even if he is a young captain. There's overpayment, and then there's being ridiculous about it.

Deal wouldn't happen, neither side would be happy, so it doesn't matter.

Lol Yah crosby/malkin for brown + 25 years worth of 1st rounders.... Brown is good but does not put up 100 points every year (or was the youngest captain ever)

Brown for Staal straight up is sort of fair pens might need to add picks and prospects since LA is pretty uptight about Brown...

You realize you listed the name of the Pens captain, who is younger, on a team in a playoff position?

Now besides that, this thread is pointless since it's been argued 1000s of times.

You're going to have to overpay if you want our captain. Just like if we wanted Staal we would have to overpay. It doesn't just go one way.

I get your point, but Staal + Letang + first rounder could bring back any player in the league not named Ovechkin.

Brown for Staal straight up would be a fair deal. Not saying it would necessarily make sense for either or both teams, but it would be a fair deal, one caveat being that there might be additional consideration from Pens to the Kings to address the fact that Brown is a much bigger bargain at this point.

very true, in a vacuum they have remarkably similar values (slight edge to Brown mainly down to the contract) but given he's LA's captain it means LA fans want the world for him. Given Staal's a huge part of Pittsburgh strength (centre depth) it means Pens fans also want the world for him.

Given your 1st rounder is a glorified 2nd rounder and Staal and Letang are probably equal to 1 and a half to twice that of Brown, it isn't so bad in my eyes. You have to double pay given the circumstances. As I said. First playoffs in nearly a DECADE, and you want a team's untouchable 25 year old captain. The leader of the god damn team. You want to rip the heart out of the Kings, you are going to need a pretty damn big offer... The Kings aren't calling you here, you're calling the Kings.

Staal alone is fair value if this was fair value land, but when circumstances weigh in, massive overpayment is needed. Brown took the deal because he wants to stay in LA and wants security for his family; the Kings invested right back by making him our youngest captain. You see the relationship you are trying to break up here?
