IceCats advance to round 2

The IceCats defeated the Manchester Monarchs (LA Kings) tonight 6-1 to win the series 4-2. They will take on the winner of the Harford Wolf Pack (NY Rangers)/Portland Pirates (Washington Capitals) series, which is currently 2-1 Hartford.

210, it looks like Sanford is playing pretty well for the Cats thus far (14 GA in 6 games, save percentage over 92%). Can you give us some insight into how he
s been playing, and does he look like someone who's ready to be a 25-30 game backup in the NHL next year?

Also, it'd be nice to get some word on any word on any prospects who are providing offense -- Terry Virtue and his four assists don't count...

Thanks,

PrussianBlue

And I thought the NHL scheduling was bad. Why is it that the Cats had played the 6th game of their series before the Hartford series had even played their 4th game?

Because Portland had to play Providence (#5 @ #4) in a best of 3 before playing the #1 seed...

Perhaps some of the Blues players should go to Massachusetts to see what playing inspired hockey will get you in the playoffs?

But hey...let's hope the Cats make some noise this postseason.

On second thought, I won't be doing that...it'll be just one review for the whole playoffs.

What will be next is my regular season "awards". That should be up on Wednesday.

210, you are the resident expert, but I thought I might also add my comments and my grades so far:
Glumac--- A .. big surprise .. could be with the Blues next year
Evans -- A- .. very solid at both ends..MVP in my opinion
Brown -- B- ..solid, AHL player
Senja -- B- .. a disappointment ... Talented, but ..
Pellerin -- B ..nice find, probably last year
Panzer -- B .. played well, since his return from injury
Ready -- B- ..solid, an AHL player
McClemment -- B .. plays wells defensively, needs another year
Hartlieb -- B ... excellent 1st half, for some reason has fallen out of grace
Pohl ... B ..was playing much better when he got hurt again.. Cats again next year
McLaren C+ .. does "his" job well .
Black -- B- ... adds nice physical presence and still good prospect.
Brooks -- B- ... great speed an works hard, should be Cats egular next year

Virtue .. A - .. same old veteran, could play next year
Brimanis -- B .. solid, defensive makes few mistakes, little upside
Laflemme -- C ... an average AHLer at best
Byrne -- B+ .. great 2nd half ..best prospect with Glumac
MacKenzie -- B ... very solid, works hard, ave pospect
Coleman -- B- ... good offensive, probably not back
Pollak -- B .. great shot, but too many mistakes
Scheffelmaier C -- hurt a lot, but a step behind when playing
Stuart ... NG -- hurt, Cats next year

Sanford -- B+ .... will be back up next year for the Blues.

Good luck against Hartford!

Still working on my grades (which will be posted sometime after the playoffs), but there isn't too much to argue about there...
